Work Practice
« on: March 11, 2022, 07:24:06 am »
I drive Loops Inchicore ,Drimnagh Crumlin dont bother ranking and I use the app .With Juice prices Im thinking I might reduce the area I cover and rank a bit more to try save on fuel .Will also consider how far away pickups are im looking @ about 16c per kilometer driven could add 40 or 50 cent to the cost of an app job before commission .Anybody else looking at changing their work pattern .

Honestly fuel is still realtively cheap lads.If it gets to €4/5  a liter I might do something different.Even though I drive a bit I rarely get flagged down.Somehow it feels like the jobs keep coming when I'm moving.Could be the algos or my imagination.

I saw yer man Ryan stuck in traffic yesterday on Kevin street in his new cement grey VWID3 leccy car.He was keeping the head down hoping nobody would notice him.I was really close to doing a Victor Meldrew and screaming at the dope from across the road but I didn't think my passenger would appreciate the road rage and then I felt a bit sorry for him.Arghhhhhhhhh.

Use as many apps as you can cope with - 2 does me - and experiment with various parking options within your loop until you find consistently reliable option(s). Official ranks are best avoided unless you're happy to wait for a physical hire as none of the apps call 1st car, they're all pretty random.

One thing I've noticed on Bolt at the Airport there's no queueing system so the closer you are to surface car park 18 the higher your chances of getting a passenger off it.There was 15/20 in each of the Uber and Freennow virtual queues and I got a Bolt instantly just by passing by.

Hopefully they don't bring an Airport queue in.I see they're already allowing drivers to pick three jobs a day in their preferred direction.Seems like another gimmick to appease the lads working the Airport.

Sun / Mon nights usually good for snatching at DAP.

I don't get that gimmick at all, MfH. If you can see where you are out the window and know where you want to go you can employ the accept/decline buttons as appropriate.

^^^Just take whatever you can Octy.Half the time the kesh is less than a quarter full and I've seen it empty quite a bit.Lads must have retired or are just too busy.I've never been fined.I've told DAA staff to get lost a few times.

It's a regular occurrence for passengers to be waiting for taxis at the places that the keshies service, even during the day shift..Anytime I come into the Airport as a passenger I get a taxi from Arrivals.Cant be arsed listening to the whinging.I can do that myself fairly well..

I think most punters prefer to avoid the official rank. In fact, a lot of those who know the score are happy to pay the PUC and wait for a while rather than taking their chances with a DAA licensed villain.

The last time I was in a taxi from the Kesh it was during the recession the chap was sound but he couldn't believe I was able to scrape a living working days.He was trying to convince me to get another gig for some reason. He probably got annoyed when I overtipped him.Havent been back since.I don't really enjoy queuing for a taxi at my age..

In view of the war and fuel crisis , inflation and most importantly climate change  .... taxis leaving the airport  empty because they cud be fined is a  disgraceful unessessary waste and adding to our carbons footprint ......
I wud imagine one of rattis Eloquently put intelligent an articulate letters that ratti writes  sent to eamonn the cabbages point out this  eco-vandalism ....wud giv  eamon lettuces  in yur window box  food for taut to ponder in between his naps ......
