I don't know why but I always liked the old vw beatles. With the engine in the back and the things to stand on at the doors. Me uncle had one back in the 70's.
My grandad had a cream one of them fer about 20 years, only sold it to buy a hatchback, sold it fer more than he paid fer it !
It's rocket boards they call the things to stand on at the doors.

Whenever my uncle visited us in the 70's there'd be about 5 kids standing either side of the car booting down the road.  Different times.

When I met Mrs. Bullet I told her I had a purple VW, she thought I meant a Beetle, when in fact it was a VW Golf 1.4.
Nice car and used as a Hackney for the first three years.

A wanked out French panel van!!

Laffin, I’d have a few hapes given half the chance.

Currently own a 1986 Volvo 740, 1990 Carina II, 1992 Carina E, 1999 Avensis as well as the wanked out french converted panel van.

Money no object? 1990 BMW E34 535i, 1980’s Rolls Royce Silver Spirt, and probably a Mercedes S500 W140, ohhh and a Alfa-Romeo 164 I know IWFTSTS had one when he was a pup, I’m extremely jealous Frank!

Traded it in for a 2nd hand CRX. The dealer wasn't happy when the clutch on the Alfa packed up shortly afterward, even though he had test driven it, he shoulda known............'cos I had an inkling....
Trump has called for help, so I'm on a plane heading for The Strait of Hormuz, talk soon.

I think I saw my old Primera in Finglas yesterday for the first time in a decade.I got really excited for some reason.Cant explain it.I think I miss when cars smelt and sounded like cars.I never remember complaining about cabin noise in that yoke. Probably because the engine was screaming.

I dunno if I saw my current heap in ten years would I still be as excited.Cant upload a picture for some reason..

They’re fantastic cars, I’m not really into Italian stallions but I think they’re absolutely gorgeous. Current market forces means you couldn’t get a bad one for under €5k

I would like a 00C silver petrol avensis and spend a good few quid on it to make it as good as new.
IE. engine overhaul, custom made seat covers, very expensive valet, new wheels, total re spray and basically replace anything that can be replaced like wipers, lights, etc..
I think I'm In Love !!  oops

Old Mk 2 Jag with spoked wheels .Screems  class motor even Big Dommos youngfellas youngfella likes them .Or an old bedford van with no seatbelts and sliding doors .
I'm liking the old Bedford idea, if money was no issue then pick up an old crocked one and do it up to perfection without going full Gotham garage on it.

As this is fer a 22 year old lad I'm thinking; Engine overhaul, custom made seat covers, very expensive valet, and basically replace anything that needs to be replaced like wipers, lights, etc..
Respray the side trims and bumbers to scarlet red to give it a mean cool look ??

Any other constructive advice would be welcome.

Well, the car is older than he is.  He's also unlikely to get insurance on a 23 year old car.
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.
