Anyone on here hear about how rental prices are going these days fer the full package, are they back to pre-covid days ?

Much as I may be shot fer saying it but the MPO's renting taxies were amongst the hardest hit during the pandemic, offering their wares fer less than 50% with little or no takers and not a lot of help from the Gov.

Why couldn't the rental companies get subsidies? If a business had tax returns that could prove previous years income they got government money.Any business.Ireland has some of the most generous handouts in the world.

I wouldn't be believing the poor mouth from the renters. If they were in danger of going under they'd be gone already.

They did get a few quid MFH just the same as we got a few quid, but that few quid was not a whole lot, I know you got by on it but not many were in the privalidged position that you are in.

The money offered to proper businesses with proper tax returns were substantial. The only reason they wouldn't have gotten the full whack is if they were under reporting their previous years earning by only taking cash. What we got on the PUP was a pittance in comparison to the subsidies offered to business owners.

Don't forget the renters also benefited from free renewals and vehicle age extensions.Good few of them are by doing whatever possible to syphon off the leccy grant money before private plate owners get a look in.

There isn't a poor renter in the country.I'd say a few were still taking cash while getting the government handouts.

Don't forget the cost owning multiple plates is significantly lower in this country compared other countries where plates are the price of a small gaff.If renting wasn't very profitable they'd be doing something else.

I went to school with an MPO and all the poor bastard ever talks about is money.Bit of a character flaw if you ask me.I know he has more money banked than he'll ever spend in a lifetime.Dont believe the bullshit lads.

I wouldn't agree MFH, either they did get substantial (??) money from the Gov if they were fully legit or they didn't if working on Cash ? (Contradiction).

What MPO's did is their own business and nothing to do with me but I do think that they suffered a lot more than most others in this industry.

I don't see how, Ken. Once Mehaul took over my PUP was cut, cut and cut again. If Mrs. Catcher wasn't on full wages for doing nothing I woulda had to become a superspreader by going to work to make ends meet. I'm sure plenty of younger men with big mortgages and children to feed, clothe and educate had to do just that. Bring back Dr. Leo, Dr. Leo was great so he was....

@Ken...Nobody went out of business during the pandemic because they were propped up massive amounts of government money.

If you had tax returns to show x income pre-pandemic then it was mostly paid to you by the government if you could prove you were negatively affected by the shutdowns.

If you were only talking cash for your cars then you probably got fuk all.But that's the price of fiddling your returns.

Maybe we could organise a whip-round for the renters living on the bread line?
