You are only a youngfella Occi but once we had to pay ground rent as we did not own the ground our gaffs stood on most of it was owned by the ruling class like judges and west Brits but we changed that back in the 1960s and allowed people buy out their ground rent for residential properties .Remember Marxists and Socialists and Trotskyites all believe all property is theft .If we function as a Society then allowing Big Dommos Granny still have a fourbedroomed Corpo Gaff at the back of the flats when she is on her own and families are homeless is wrong .In the leafy tree lined Avenue where I reside South Dublin Council are building houses some of them are stepdown gaffs for old people who only need one bedroom and are occupying'3 bedroomed gaffs .The plan is to offer them a move but allow them stay living in the community .If they dont agree to move there are only two answers onr charge a Minimum rent for a three bed house they cannot afford on a pension or introduce new rules for Social housing that only allows you have what you need .That way more families will have married children living in the family home so the elders can stay living in their old home .
In a lot of new Appartment blocks there are 3,2 and 1 bedroomed appartments these blocks are being taken over on long term deals by councils the idea being as the kids move out you move to smaller appartment in the same block .Sort of like the old tennements of Dublin where families moved rooms in the same house .Look around you Occi we are going backwards to go forward .We dumped Concord .We are now going back to bikes for transport or walking.Its all bollox Occi Market economics has failed, supply and demand should mean if there is a demand the SUPPLY will go up but what it really means is the PRICE goes up not the supply .
