Here is the real agenda

Dublin Bus have been slammed for leaving Green Day fans "high and dry" after people were left stranded at Marlay Park after the gig due to the lack of transport

The American rock legends were playing at Marlay Park as part of their "Hella Mega Tour" with support from Fall Out Boy and Weezer. Local Fine Gael Councillor David McManus hit out at the public transport provider, saying they failed to "organise even one extra bus on their routes around Marlay Park which has left thousands of concert-goers high and dry".

The South Dublin County Councillor added: "The 14 and 16 bus routes should have additional buses on their routes between 4pm and midnight each day."

One fan said she was forced to walk 2 and a half hours to get to a bus stop but was left stranded after the last bus drove past her. Speaking on Twitter she said: "Marlay Park was a f*****g shambles tonight. The last bus left randomly stranding thousands. No Luas running.

"Guards told us to walk to the bus stop for 16. Walked for 2.5 hours for the Dublin Bus to not stop for us. No taxis. Took me almost 3 hours to get home and I live in the city."

Another person said they had to walk 5 kilometres home to Rathmines after buses stopped running at 10pm. They said: "What a great concert at Marley Park tonight. Green Day you were absolutely amazing.

"Dublin Bus what is wrong with you?!? No buses after 10 from Marlay Park. Why? Just why? WALKED HOME 5K TO Rathmines."

A third person added: "It’s only Monday but the first Marley Park show has already shown how unfit for purpose public transport and particularly Dublin Bus are. Loads of people just wondering around the place the last hour with no way home."

Cllr McManus said even commuters getting out of the city had difficulties as buses were at full capacity all evening. He added: "night, the Grange Road at Marlay Park became the Boulevard of Broken Public Transport for Green Day fans as tens of thousands walked into town due to the failure of Dublin Bus.

"I’m calling on Dublin Bus to serve the public and organise additional services for concert-goers immediately."

Fans were also left fuming at the start of the concert after they had to join a "massive" queue. People attending the concert claimed there was only one entrance open which meant the queue stretched over 1.5km long around the perimeter of the park.

One fan posted pictures of people queuing for the gig, writing: "The state of the queue to get in to Marlay Park. Surely @mcd_productions should have made safer arrangements for people!!! Actually standing on the side of a road with traffic passing."

A Dublin Bus spokeswoman said: "Dublin Bus is responsible for the operation of PSO services. Our full schedule of services is operating across Routes 14, 16 and 61, with some diversions in place.

"Dublin Bus is not in a position to provide additional services for the concerts and Longitude Festival 2022, at Marlay Park. The National Transport Authority is aware of this and made this position clear to concert organisers, well in advance of the event.

DUBLIN BUS is not in a position but what about Go Bus .All the no taxi bollox is about busses and the Public Service Obligation .The Nightlink does not Qualify but if the NTA react to the Taxi shortage by offering the subsidy Go Bus will cover the routes .Like I posted first create the Problem Tell Ballyfermot Joseph then Leo or Eamo will sort it out by offering the subsidy .

Anyone else noticed the rickshaws are getting faster and aren't being pedal assisted like before covid.?New batteries maybe?.I wonder how much power they're legally allowed to have?

Does the blame not lie with the concert organisers?  Surely, once they found out that Dublin Bus were not getting involved, they could have rang around the local private hire bus companies and gotten them involved.  A bit of extra money for those companies who'd normally be doing school runs or tourist runs down the country?

FFS do I really need to spell it out .The Garda have an Anti Terrorisms protocol in place .They first eliminate Panic .If somebody was to ram a vehicle into a dense crowd the following panic would cause a stampede .The protocol is to disperse the crowd from a congested fixed point The Gateway .If they have Cars ,Taxis,Busses that slows down the dispersal of the crowd .With a dispersed crowd any terrorist will only kill what they hit .Look at other Terror attacks in Europe .Manchester ,London ,Paris ,Brussels ,Berlin .Most deaths or injuries were caused by stampede .Look at Heisel or Hillsboro .The Gards are not telling people that there are terrorist treats .But if you knew somebody on the Council Joint Policing Forum they might tell you .You are reading of the effect not the cause .The cause of the lack of transport is Security the effect is moving targets not sitting ducks .Do we really believe looking at the rest of Europe that Ireland is Special and wont have any terror attacks .The Gards are doing their job keeping the crowd safe .If anything happened Drew would be hung out to dry by TDs asking why crowds were allowed hang around waiting .

John there is something in what you say about a terror attack. They are treating taxis different to the buses though.During the pride bollox they kept taxis we'll away from the parade route but allowed buses right up to the edge. From what I can see the cops can't be certain if we can be trusted.Must be all the muzzies in the fleet.

When I queried why I wasn't allowed bring my passengers through a road closure with a copper from Pearse street they couldn't give me a proper answer.
