Yes they are expensive upfront but you make your money back over the years with cheaper electricity.  Grants are available for some people via SEAI's "one stop shop".  If you can't afford them, the council are helping lots of families.  In Finglas, the council is retrofitting lots of houses (but no solar) while in Ballymun, many of the new Corpo houses have solar panels.

Eventually your house, solar panels, solar battery, your EV & ESB networks will all "talk" to other via some clever software and the electricity will be moved around depending on who needs it when.  I don't know how they'll do it but I'll bet ESB networks have clever people who can work all that out.

There's only one transmission network so all the electricity gets mixed up together and transmitted down the lines.  And, as mentioned already, the price is regulated by the CRU.

It argues that this is saving money for Irish consumers and is also delivering much increased profits for wind developers.

The Commission for the Regulation of Utilities recently predicted wind farms could earn an average of €330 a megawatt hour in the year from next October – six times the price predicted two years ago.

Todays scamdemic figures The New Childrens Hospital has gone up another ONEHUNDRED AND EIGHTY MILLION due to building inflation and a local councillor has objected to the Double bike lane on Kilmainham Hill ,on the grounds that that is the main arterial rout to access the new Hospital and there is no room for traffic to move out of the way of emergency vehicles .They were informed that the cost of removing the two bike lanes, bollards and markings would be in excess of 300 Thousand Euro .They also say Irish Water has been renamed Uisce Eireann to try break the link between Water and Charges .Irish Water had a bad PR reputation they recon 3 Million will be spent on the Rebrand changing signs on trucks and vans and headed notepaper .

Because the leprechauns got unionised.  They're refusing to magic the free wind into the high voltage transmission wires unless they get paid for it...

Think that RC is working on all those things as we speak. Other things on his list, auto licence revoke for penalty points, compulsory area knowledge test every 3 years, and full clean medical report before every PSV driving licence renewal.
