Absolute tragedy
« on: September 04, 2022, 09:15:55 am »
Two children and an adult teenager have died after a violent incident at a house in Dublin.

The tragedy occurred around 12.30am this morning at a home in the Rossfield Estate, Tallaght, Dublin 24.

Three female siblings, two children and an adult teenager, were removed from the scene by ambulance to Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin, where all three were later pronounced deceased.

A male teenager was removed from the scene to Tallaght Hospital with serious, but what are believed, at this time, to be non-life threatening injuries.

Following an intervention by Garda Armed Support Unit members, involving the discharge of less than-lethal devices, a male in his early 20s was arrested at the scene. The male is currently detained at Tallaght Garda Station under section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A female, the mother of the children, who was not injured at the scene, was also removed to CHI Crumlin and is currently receiving medical treatment.

All persons involved in this incident are believed to be known to each other. Gardaí are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident, at this time.

Gardaí in Tallaght have established an Incident room and all the circumstances of this incident are being investigated under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer.

The scene in Rossfield Estate remains sealed off and a Forensic Examination will commence later today by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The Coroner’s Office and the Office of the State Pathologist have been informed. Post Mortems, to be arranged, will take place.

An Garda Síochána have appointed a family liaison officer and An Garda Síochána will continue to support the family involved in conjunction with other state agencies.

A Garda spokesperson said: “This violent, challenging and traumatic incident was responded to by uniform unarmed Garda first responders from Tallaght District, supported by uniform members and armed detectives from the wider DMR South Division and Specialist Armed Support Unit members. An Garda Síochána has put in place welfare supports for, and will continue to support, all members who attended this incident.”

RIP

HERE'S ANOTHER ONE  ----

Todays Racing Post--

The Irish racing community is in mourning following the tragic death of Jack de Bromhead, 13-year-old son of leading trainer Henry and his wife Heather, after what has been described as a freak fall at Glenbeigh horse and pony races in County Kerry on Saturday.

A twin brother to Mia and older sibling to Georgia, De Bromhead was already a familiar young face to racing fans having featured in various television interviews as the likes of Honeysuckle, A Plus Tard, Minella Indo and Minella Times carried all before them for his father's County Waterford stable.

He was known as a pleasant and humble boy who was regularly seen by his father's side at the races, and had begun to carve his own career on the horse and pony racing circuit over the past couple of seasons, making a big impression by riding a handful of winners this summer.

On Saturday he was participating at the historic Glenbeigh races two-day event, which takes place on Rossbeigh Strand in west Kerry.

It is understood De Bromhead was riding in the fifth race when his mount veered into the sea as they rounded a bend and fell, landing on top of him. An air ambulance was summoned to attend the stricken rider but despite the best efforts of all the emergency services he died at the scene.

“A male in his teens received treatment at the scene following the incident but was later pronounced deceased,” Gardai said of the accident.

“His body has since been removed to the morgue at Kerry University Hospital.”

The remainder of Saturday's card was abandoned immediately, as was Sunday's scheduled fixture. It was the first time the Glenbeigh meeting had been held since the pandemic.

The De Bromhead family's devastating loss comes at a time when Henry's stable has dominated jump racing's most prestigious events. He has sent out Honeysuckle to win the last two Champion Hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival, where he has also won the past two Gold Cups with Minella Indo and A Plus Tard.

He and Rachael Blackmore also combined to scale the sport's highest summit when landing a famous victory in the 2021 Grand National with Minella Times.

Funeral details for Jack have yet to be announced.

Gardai this morning clarified that the victims were a twin girl and boy aged eight, and their 18-year-old sister.

Another 14-year-old boy was also hospitalised with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

At this stage gardai believe all four siblings were stabbed by a man known to them using a large bladed object.

RTE News saying the alleged perpetrator got there via taxi.  Wonder what he was like in the taxi?  RTE also saying the guy was acting crazy when the Gardai turned up and they had to use CS spray and other 'non-lethal' weapons to arrest him...
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

Cash and Cawley are both popular traveller surnames.
