Consultation to tell us how to do our job !!! Laffin

The bit I look at is the Comittee were told TAXI Drivers do not want to work Nights ?They dealt with the other Problem of unaffordable Cars but now the Lack of Nightime Drivers ?.
There are plenty of us nighttime drivers between Sunday To Thursday.

Funny how the most vocal are day time drivers.

Bit Vague bullits ...an if its meanin wat I tink means .....the point that's bean made by some on the media who appear to be sumwat on our side are makin is that drivers won't do nites anymore cause of antisocial behaviour...that's a problem for the whole of society ...an then yu hav those in the media  wit other agendas an scapegoatin taxis sayin that women will be raped cause thers not enough
Taxis an callin for uber
I tink its less of a problem that thers not enough taxis an more to do with blokes changin from nites to days cause they learned durin the flu  they can live on lot less money an have a life with family and not hav to put up with runners   ,pukers , pissheads , junkies , cnuts fallen asleep,  or shiten in poor owl kens new car  an stupid bleedin arguments  an turn up the bleedin  radio mister  im coked ou of it an im buzzin ...... ide rather Ferry feral chimpanzees
Wat wud it take for drivers to return to nite work ?
It wud take an awful lot for meself to back to it ....
Bringing  people to the airport or work beats a rabble of pissed apes in yur car anyday ....
I actually cudnt work town at nite anymore to be honest ...its not worth it
Ide rather be a poor master than a rich servant

I'm with Octy on this. I'd rather traffic and sane ppl over drunks and nights any day. Your body clock is not cut out for nights, not so bad when you're young , 30ish,  but 40s and 50s and beyond it'd wouldbe for me.

Trouble is you want to be out on the town when you're young....
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Brass monkies have to be out and about during business hours to attend court, probation officers, social welfare offices, the Vinny, county council offices, foster homes, and supervised visits to their spawn with social workers in attendance. Hospital appointments, doctors appointments. Dialysis patients. Y'know, I don't miss Lymp day work one bit.

It says to permit vehicles expiring 2023 and 2024 be extended temporarily……does this include 2012 vehicles that were extended upto 2023?
Work it out yourself, it sez VEHICLES EXPIRING IN 2023 AND 2024, no mention of reg plates.

Lads lads lads...I only put me deposit on me new car this morning and now the NTA are considering another consultation....

I can't really make it out but it's on their site. Its a little confusing but it looks like more extensions on the way.Dunno if I deserve one TBH.
I think the new proposed extension will be in your favour MFH fer maybe 2 or 5 more years ??

.... Looks to me like anyone wit a car 8 or 9 yers old today gets an extension...nobody else ....to be reviewed depending on economic/geopolitical
Changes ....not worth a bollix to most of us
The reps reckon that it concerns about 4500 drivers which is 25% of the fleet.

Taxi Work is a business not a Social Club .Do I want competition given a second chance to take fares .No I dont .Like I posted earlier only the Army help their fellow workers and want more workers in the team .Unless you are an Irish Taxi Driver .When the recession bites .......The new old chant will be To many taxis .

The crippling cost of living is putting an extra squeeze on pubs with some facing closure.

That was the warning issued yesterday by the Vintners’ Federation of Ireland following the release of a new consumer pulse survey.

It revealed more than four-in-10 Irish adults are planning fewer visits to pubs for the remainder of this year due to cost of living concerns.

That prompted VFI chief Paul Clancy to demand “urgent and substantive energy support in the Budget”. He said a drop-off in trade will heap extra pressure on publicans – but insisted they “cannot pass on increases to customers [who are] already under financial strain”.

He said: “The survey findings paint a bleak future for the pubs, their staff and the communities where they often provide a vital social hub.

“With 42% of pub-goers expected to curtail visits due to cost of living pressures, it is vital Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe provides urgent and substantive energy supports to the pub trade in Budget 2023. Pubs cannot pass on increases to customers already under financial strain and colossal energy costs are going to force pubs to close, or reduce their winter opening times.

Why worry over what the fella next door is earning ?
The same option to be a multi-plate owner or a base or app owner is available to all.

Just got off the phone to the NTA and my heap isn't part of this consultation.New car for me.I think I needed to change anyway......
I would not agree MFH, the proposed new rule states;
" to permit SPSVs with a current final operation date in 2023 and 2024 to operate for a period beyond the maximum permissible age set out in Regulation 31 of the Taxi Regulation"
https://www.nationaltransport.ie/public-consultation-on-proposed-small-public-service-vehicle-contingency-measure-vehicle-supply-maximum-permissible-age-regulations/

Your 2006 expires in 2023 which to me qualifies you if the proposal goes ahead ??
Granted the proposal is not yet passed and that is most likely why the NTA refused you on the phone.
