Ken gives hope, Has any 2012 heap due to expire 2023 gotten confirmation that its included in the proposal? It doesn’t make sense that they’ll exclude 2012 cars and extend only 2013/2014 cars
Unfortunately it is a waiting game fer you MK, the current consultation process runs till mid October, so hard to know when a final decision will be made.
But I'm guessing at early November, and again I'm guessing that you will qualify fer a 2 year extension.

Just looking at this mess again..

My maximum permissible age fell in 2021 as my heap is a 2006 saloon that was plated up before January 2013..My interpretation of the draft notes (when you click on the make a consultation)is that date has been extended by 48 months from 2021 to superceed the covid extensions. This brings me up to 2025 from what I can tell.

Here's the text..." have reached its maximum permissible age of ten years or fifteen years between
1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021, it shall not be deemed to have reached its
maximum permissible age until a period of 48 months after the date upon which it
would have otherwise reached its maximum permissible age of ten years or fifteen
years by virtue of the time periods specified in paragraphs (1) or (2)"

I could be wrong as they've already told me I'm gone but as far as I can see no taxi leaves until 2025.I still dunno whether I'll want an extension but it would be nice to have some clarity.

I think you will be good fer the proposed 2 year extension MFH.
But remember what you posted above is the draft consultation plan, which has not yet been passed.

As fer the lady in the NTA telling you that you are gone, she is correct stating the current rules today as the proposal has not yet been finalised.

It's a bit mad alright Belker.I specifically asked the lady if I was impacted should the consultation be passed and she said my final operation date was still 2023 and it wouldn't be of benefit.

I've emailed them to be sure and might phone up and speak to someone else.Either way I won't be disappointed.I've had a good run so far.

It's also possible the messed up and didn't word the consultation in such a way to exclude my heap.

I doubt that you will get a solid answer till after the consultation process and final decision has been made.

But it is very possible that they don't want any cars that have already got 15 year licenses and/or covid extensions ??
As the proposal we got to vote on stands, if passed then both yourself and MK will be good till 2025.

It's hard to know what they're really up to.Only last weekend I saw a 2000 hiace wheely working away. There are a few relics in the wheely fleet that have special terms regarding their age.

Thanks ken, we’ll know more in the days ahead. I dont want to wait 50 minutes on the phone and end up with unclear and unsatisfactory answer.

No worries MK, I know it's a stressful time fer you with the clock ticking, the NTA consultation ends on 12th Oct so keep your eye on their website after that date fer final updates.
I would be very surprised if you did not qualify fer an extension, but that's only me guessing.

The phone jockies in the NTA can only tell you what's happening today, honestly MFH,if I was a betting man..which I'm not...I would say that you will qualify if the new draft proposal is passed and as you quoted their blurb about no cars leaving the fleet until 2025,I can't really see them excluding a few cars, that just wouldn't make sense, although as I normally say, this is the NTA we're talking about.

Yeah Belker that's what they said but it could easily be another mistake.I'll assume the worst and keep saving until we have more certainty. The girls on the phone are reading off a script.

2026 would make it 20 years old, so might be some reasoning in that ??
