« on: October 07, 2022, 11:12:37 am »
Whats the Story with the New Sum Up card .I got one this morning telling me my Business account was now active .Are they trying to get us to lodge our coin in their Bank ?My Sum Up payments go to my Terrestrial Bank .If I activate that card am I liable for the Government Card levy .Is there any advantage to using the Sum Up bank ?is the commission less?

Just opt out.My understanding was the money gets sent to the Mastercard account and that's how you withdraw it.

Doesn't really seem like a good deal.So they get money on the card transactions from our passengers then get more money when you spend on the Mastercard from the petrol station or wherever you spend it.

Is that wrong lads?

Go online and into Sum Up a/c and there is an opt in/out---

Its just bait for Mastercard --you know as well as me somewhere along the line there will be charges --for the 150 quid I might do a week on cards I get paid 48 hours in arrears, doesn't really effect balance of payment so it will do for me !

I opted out from the email they sent.My old address is on my Sumup account and I dunno where they would send the card.Just to be safe I opted out.

If it's free fees then I'll reconsider but it's not AFAIK.

Send a message through the support section of your app.Took them 4 days to respond to my last message so don't activate the card until you speak to them.

I'm in a similar position - got the promo emails and ignored them. Then got emails saying the card is on the way. Ignored them as well. Looking at the SumUp app, I'm 3/6 steps towards finishing!

No physical card yet.

I've never opted in or out of anything so not sure what to do now. Deffo don't want a credit card!

The whole thing is puzzling. Sumup must easily have 500,000 small business customers across Europe. Did they send out half a mil blank credit cards. The potential for fraud must be huge?

The email (that everyone with a Sumup Reader received) plainly says that if you don't actively opt out of this then you are getting a Master Card and all your future Sumup Payments will go into your new Sumup account.
If you ignore the emails then you have not opted out, so Sumup will have decided that you are happy to have your money lodged into your new account and your new Master Card will be on it's way to you.
You can still opt out of this, but I don't know how, as I opted out when I received the 1st email.
They are Debit Cards as far as I can see Watty. Just means less potential for Fraud.

Found the email in my trash folder.  The opt-out info is waaaayyyy down the bottom.

@ JohnM: Email says you can opt-out anytime after deadline by changing something in the settings. Will post pic later.

Here we go.  I guess you could say the opt-out is on 'page 4' of the email.  Instructions on how to opt-out after their deadline are on page 3 as well.  Pics should get bigger if you click on them.
