Electricity bill scam
« on: October 24, 2022, 02:56:46 pm »
I noticed that my latest leccy bill from Energia was a whopping 120 euro higher than my last two bills. On investigation I have found that they MISCALCULATED the charge, which is usually about 200+ in coin.I have checked with a few friends and they are finding the same scam is being perpetrated on them.I think that the energy companies are just hiking and hope that the thick Micks will just rollover and pay. I have issued a claim for the 120 scroters that they tried to overcharge me with. They are saying that E&OE is in their written terms. Scumbags

Big companies like that will always 'estimate' in their favour.

I usually register a reading with Electric Ireland the day before the price goes up.

I think you have 7 days after the bill is issued to correct it - maybe it's the same with Energia?

Did you go on line on October 1st and enter your meter reading if you dont have a smart meter ? If you are on a two month billing cycle they will split the reading and charge you 50%/50% at the new higher tariff .Its all in the small print

^^^^^^Octy there could be all sorts of malicious software on yer phone that just collects data.I personally don't like Whatsapp because it's owned by Facebook and they're a dishonest bunch. All them WhatsApp groups that we're in sharing videos and funny pictures could be riddled with viruses. They'd never admit it if they messed up and it's offline today for some reason.

They just pick random numbers John. I always just hang up and block the number.  Doesn't happen so much anymore but still does the odd time.

There was a guy on Garda Patrol last night who answered a add on investing money in crypto on the markets and doubling it in 2 months. He put in 500 yo yo and the return was showing up on the Crypto market each day as a upward trend. Then the phone calls came every day at 9AM asking him to invest more money. He asked if he could get some money back to test it after he had invested 3 grand. They put 1 grand back into his account in a few days. well! he invested 34 grand and when he tried to get it back….it was gone…Puff.,,,,Scams everywhere!
