For me its 2 years, which is crazy, imagine someone getting away with that in the UK or Germany etc good old Ireland.

The NTA would rather fine us for harmless things like letting our licence expire(while not working).

im thinking of giving it a go, when you think about it, its a great gig, under cut legit taxis so you have plenty of work, no NCT and suitability test every 6 months, no 2,000 + euro insurance, no income tax, no 10 or 15 year rule, no passengers reporting you to the NTA. No NTA OR guards that will bother their ass to catch you.

You will be relying totally on street work. No app will touch you without up to date documents. You won't be able to rank up either because the regulator can and do go around the ranks checking not to mention other drivers who will report you. So you've to keep on the move the whole time. Other than 2am to 4am on weekend nights it wouldn't really be viable.  Not to mention what what happen if you were involved in an accident with passengers on board. Even if it wasn't your fault you will be taken to the cleaners by the insurance companies.  And for what? To save a few grand a year? Not worth it imo.

I wouldn't really do it but there are lads at it blatantly and getting away with it. lads in normal cars, no Licences to carry passengers for reward, usually pieces of $hit cars, they operate like we do, all advertised through word of mouth. small towns its mostly people they know who they carry, they have regular runs. These lads are making hundreds per week, they are on the road as much as we are, more sometimes.

Me either but its usually done by the local scumbag who don't really care about different State agencies hunting them.

I suppose they will all have their day but its a pity it takes so long, I might have to quit being a taxi driver and join the NTA to catch him myself, before he dies of old age.

It would be very unfortunate if something was to happen to his car. Like tyres constantly getting slashed, wing mirrors being pulled off, lights being broken etc. There's a lot of scrotes about the place. Would be an awful pity if this fellas car was targeted.

it would be hard to tell the difference, he would probably drive on the rims.
