Late night rail
« on: November 30, 2022, 03:53:54 pm »
Irish Rail has announced times of late-night Dart and commuter rail services for weekends in the run up to Christmas and New Year.

It said late-night Dart and commuter services will operate from this Friday.

The late-night services will have security personnel on board to ensure customer safety, Irish Rail said.

Services will operate across the Dart network, as well as commuter services to Maynooth, to Dundalk, Co Louth, and to Kildare via the Phoenix Park Tunnel.

The full schedule of late night Dart and commuter services is as follows.

December 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 and Friday, December 23:

· 00:30 and 01:30 from Pearse serving all stations to Howth

· 00:30 and 01:30 from Connolly serving all stations to Greystones

· 00:40 and 01:40 from Pearse serving Tara St, Connolly, and all stations from Howth Junction to Dundalk

· 00:20 and 02:00 from Pearse serving all stations to Maynooth

· 23:50 and 01:50 from Pearse serving all stations to Drumcondra, and all stations from ParkWest to Kildare

Late-night on December 31 after New Year’s Eve concerts and celebrations:

· 01:30 and 02:30 from Pearse serving all stations to Howth

· 01:30 and 02:30 from Connolly serving all stations to Greystones

· 01:40 and 02:40 from Pearse serving Tara St, Connolly, and all stations from Howth Junction to Dundalk

· 01:20 and 03:00 from Pearse serving all stations to Maynooth

· 00.50 and 02:50 from Pearse serving all stations to Drumcondra, and all stations from ParkWest to Kildare

Irish Rail said fares would be charged at normal rates and said customers can use their Leap card or buy cash fares.

Weekly, monthly and annual season tickets will be valid on late night services, it said, so season ticket holders can use the services at no extra charge.

Now, I'm an old fart and don't get out much but what time do the late pubs and nightclubs close at?

And, unlike ourselves, still no card facilities on Irish Rail?
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

Excellent service. Normal train fares apply. Well done Inrod Airan.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Spotlessly clean as well, I hear.  Not surprising if all the trains have left by the time the pubs/clubs kick out!

Usually a good service... I can never understand folk who keep calling for the DART to be extended, it's a fucking cattle truck compared to intercity trains... although last time I took the last train home from Dublin some technical issue dictated that we had to take a DART from Pearse to Connolly. Not a big deal you might think but it happened to be one of the nights Garth Brooks was simging in Croke Park... Friends in Low places slurred out of tune for 40+ minutes is what followed.

If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Plenty of work everywhere on weekend nights if you work for Free Now. early weeknights die a death in December though... roll on January, I say.
