They are literally taking our tips by doing this.
I average about 30c per FreeNow passenger in tips. This wouldn't be a concern.

The customer is being pillaged already for a euro which used to be tacked onto the journey as a tip.

Frenow sent out new terms and conditions for passengers and drivers  that will come in from January 11 onwards.

The technology fee has been increased to €3 for mulitseater vehicles and all prebook jobs.Greedy bastards.

" Transportation Method

Technology Fee

Regular Taxi (4 seats)

€1.00

Multi-seater Taxi (5 plus seats)

€3.00

Reserve Fleet (4-8 Seats)

€3.00

Premium Vehicle

€5.00"
Does Reserve fleet mean pre-books ??
If it is then it will kill off the pre-books !

I think so Belker.I never use the prebook thing. It's a bad idea IMO to have it as it keeps vehicles driving around or waiting empty in beteen Prebooks.

I see freight is 25% for private hire cars now. Only a matter of time before licensed taxis are paying the same.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

FreeNow, the taxi-booking app, is to roll out a range of new fees early in the new year which will see passengers charged up to €10 if they cancel their journey or do not show up within a set time frame while the company’s so-called “technology fees” are also set to increase.

That'll piss customers off big time.  There's plenty of reasons why a customer might legit cancel - maybe the husband books before the wife is ready or the baby kicks off just before the taxi turns up.  A fiver was the right number I'd suggest?

Or how about this...
Got a street hail this morning to the airport.  They'd originally pre-booked a FN taxi but it looked like the driver was trying to do another airport tun before picking them up.  He was 20 mins late and was refusing to cancel their job.  Cheeky fukker looking for the fiver I guess?  So they had to cancel the job and immediately got a €5 cancellation fine.  I told them to write to FN explaining their situation but they probably won't.

They should use the technology fee to regulate demand during so-called peak times. I'm sure plenty of riders wouldn't mind paying an extra score if they could get a cab on a weekend night up above in Dublin.

Uber call that surge-pricing.

With surge pricing the driver gets the excess (less commission). With Free Now's technology fee version the firm trousers the lot.... but then Uber give drivers the cancellation fees (commission free) too whereas Free Now trousers c.82.64% of them.
