Dead out there - what's the story?
« on: December 30, 2022, 09:53:17 pm »
Went out the 26th December(Stephen's Day) and everything was closed. Took the week off to spend him the kids, now back out tonight Friday 30th and town is deserted. About 50 taxis parked up at top of Grafton, hardly anyone on the street. Harcourt Street deserted, and Camden Street the same. Did I miss something?

It bounced every night over the festive season. The 30th is traditionally the quietest with the 31st being the messiest.

Expect every cabbie who took the foot off the gas over Xmas to be out tomorrow in an effort to recoup losses.

NYE is usually boll*cks.

The public are probably finding that their wages ran out faster this christmas than previous years. All the doom and gloom on the news and the interest rate increases is enough to force a recession. One bloke I had in me car last month said we're already in a recession but the published numbers havent yet caught up.The brits are already admitting they're in one. 2023 might be different.Dont expect people to be ordering taxis and especially limos like before.

Just in  case anyone is looking in all these earnings lads are posting are before tax and expenses like car loans and PSV insurance.Since there's not as much cash the tax man will be taking 40% on the bigger earners on everthing they earned after the summer.300 isnt really 300 like before.Happy new year fukkers!

Sounds interesting considering I spend so much time in the NCT center..

Apart from having to turn up all the time which wouldn't suit me you need some sort of qualifications.I'd get sacked for passing too many cars out.Half of the fails aren't roadworthy issues IMO.

Everytime I actually think about getting another job I realise how easy I have it.

"We require the following: 1. EU/EAA work permit 2. QQI Level 5 motor mechanic qualification or higher 3. At least 1 year post qualification experience as a vehicle testers or mechanic 4."

Seems like a very high qualification to test tyres and oil levels. No wonder they cant get the staff.

They can't get enough mechanics an ther already using unqualified employees as far as I can see  ...yuv a mechanical interest...
