As fer booting down the road, your the one with speeding penalty points, NOT ME !

I've no points on my license Ken, not one. Zero, zilch,  nada. If anyone should be fined and banned for no less than 6 months it's mongs driving down the road interacting with their phones. Pure madness how it's allowed to carry on.

And don't get me started on idiots who do u turns into oncoming traffic.  Mongs the lot of them. That behavior may be acceptable down in bog land but up here in the civilised world we are considerate of other road users.  We'll most of us are. A few like to rank up wherever they want, blocking everywhere but that's still not as bad as your dangerous activities.

All the other 'eh'hem' stuff has nothing to do with my driving licence or standards Ken. You may as well say but what about that fine you got for fishing down the river out of season. It has nothing to do with this. You're clutching at Straws again. As usual.

In case anyone is wondering I solved this printer issue by putting tape over the little light sensor inside the printer. Now of someone asks me for a paper receipt I can reninstall the paper roll and print it out like normal.Pain in the hole having to go look for paper when it's busy.
Can you do it with a Hale Microtax-05?
I have given up trying to find a way to do that with the same meter, I used to have a switch on it, but it was ilegal and the meter calibrator fella would not work on an illegal meter so had to take it out and never bothered putting it back in, also I don't think it would pass suitability these days.

So you say I'm acting illegally by not printing out a receipt for every fare even though I offer one yet you've given up trying to do what I've managed to achieve? You're some can of piss fu you know that.

You can get free rolls from Freenows office,so who cares if you throw away yards of the shite every week?

I don't know if Kenneth the sailer man is also a Fisher man octy. He was trying to say, unsuccessfully I might add, that the illegal (in the eyes of the law) activities I engaged in all those years ago could somehow impact my driving licence or standard of driving.  The man is clearly nuts. I'd say if he was a Fisher man he'd have to have an app to show him where to cast his rod, what bait to use, how fast or slow to reel in his spinner and what time to go poxy home at. Born loser.

vandriver:

When I'm putting in a bit of work the paper takes up too much space once it comes off the roll.In me new jammer it fills the glovebox in no time.Just turns it into another bin to empty.

@Belker the printer still works normally. The meter just doesn't stall anymore on "Printer busy" when it runs empty on paper stopping me from taking another fare.

By the way lads after reading the manual on the meter... this is a setting that can be removed very easily. In other countries the taxi drivers have to select the option to print a receipt instead of having it on by default. What fukkin wanker thought this would be a great idea?

My understanding of the regulations is we have to offer a receipt but not necessarily print one out after every job.

Suitability may require it but it's their interpretation of the rules AFAIK.Very easily changed.

Besides the fact that I'm a hungry fuk I dont like offering Freenow free advertising to my other street/app passengers by taking the 'free' rolls option. It's bad enough that street hails have almost disappeared on the day shift.

The price of printer rolls has doubled too since I started driving ...nobody ever notices this shit.Maybe it's because I started during the bad years that I'm more carefull about these things. When things take a shit yis will care again.

From the  NTA initial suitability manual.

Note the word capable below...

My interpretation is it should be an option to print automatically.Maybe I'm deliberately misinterpretating the words though..because it suits me.

"A printer shall be fitted, wired to the taximeter and capable
of automatically printing a receipt including the details of
the vehicle registration and the licence number."

You can buy them online Van D from;
https://www.discounttillrolls.ie/taxi-supplies
they work out at about .60 cent per roll.
