It is my opinion that a lot of these towns are viable its just people don't want to pay tax on their income.
Id be very confident I could move to one of these towns and make a good living operating as a taxi/hackney driver.
if they don't have even 1 taxi then you will have all the business, I travel to these towns and carry passengers, some are 20 euro trips, some are 100 euro to 200 euro trips.
so you do all these trips during the week and if you want you can go to a busier town at weekend nights and make money there, people in these towns are either lazy or just have no balls to go and start a business.
This scheme isnt thought out either,
The local hackney, which exclusively operates on a pre-booked basis, may only pick up passengers within a designated area of 7 to 10km from a chosen point, normally the residence of the licensed driver. so you then drop them to Dublin airport, say its 150 miles away, the driver cant collect them when they land back in Dublin, as if that wont happen, the NTA will be flat out catching these guys for breaching the rules.
