An Oireachtas committee has heard that domestic customers of ESB Networks who were overcharged for a decade are to be compensated.

"In March of last year we decided, absolutely, that money wil be paid back to domestic customers", Aoife MacEvilly, Chairperson, Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU), said.

She was referring to a scheme which was intended to subsidise large energy users to the tune of €50m annually, which was billed to domestic customers, and ran from from 2010 to 2022.

But it has emerged that ESB Networks overcharged domestic customers in the way it implemented the scheme, using a percentage rather than a fixed amount.

The Taoiseach has told the Dáil that he "must have been" briefed about the State's nursing home charges legal strategy.

He described it as a "sound policy approach and a legitimate legal strategy".

Leo Varadkar said the matter has been grossly misrepresented and it was never the policy of the Oireachtas to provide fee private nursing home care for medical card holders.

He said the idea that Governments had prevented people getting refunds they were entitled to was "far fetched".

The Dáil heard that the Attorney General is now preparing a report for Government on the matter and it will be published after it goes to Cabinet next week.

NOW THEY ARE ROBBING THE INFIRM .....The Taoiseach has said the State "does not have a leg to stand on" over a decision not to pay the Disabled Persons' Maintenance Allowance (DPMA) to vulnerable people in residential care, according to legal advice.

RTÉ Investigates has revealed that the State denied up to 12,000 people their disability payment.

Leo Varadkar said this issue was a historic one which was resolved 14 years ago but it would be looked at by the Government again now.

This was because it was different in substance to the nursing home charges issue, he said.

He said the Government had a responsibility to do what was right and good and to protect the taxpayer.

Talking to a Man who knows a Man who knows nothing .He says have you noticed all the Leaks of government memos .like the Nursing Homes and invalidity robbing and there are more there is one to do with Meat  prices in the 1970s .It seems that some People in the Civil Service are gunning for Leo the Leak as he tried to shaft others over leaks to divert attention from him when he was under investigation .Senior Civil Servants dont trust Leo they say he will throw them under the Bus to save his own skin or reputation .
