The lyrics are about a Man who stole Corn during the Famine to feed his family .Trevelyn was the Tax Man responsible for collecting taxes .So stolen Corn was a loss of taxes to the Crown .The Story is allegorical .There is no actual Court Case recorded but Men were made Immigrants and deported to Bothany Bay for Sheep stealing or Rustling during the Irish Famine .
