During the dark days of the Coughing Plague .When we struggled to spend Dr Leos largess and pondered life and death and when would racing be back .A young lad under 60 years of age was striving for betterment and self fulfillment and he vaguely muttered that he was contemplating becoming a Driving Instructor .As great believer in education I perused the many educational opportunities available while claiming the Leo Lump that allowed you to grab the sheckles and attend education and located a Driving Instructor Course paid for by Leos Largess and Informed the North County Dublin Lad of the opportunity and cajoled him to avail of the opportunity .Though he was somewhat reticent at first the fact that Leo was picking up the two Grand training Fee was too good to dismiss so the intrepid youngster set out to qualify as a driving instructor .Multiple examinations both on line and practical later he qualified got his little plastic instructors licence and reciept book for lessons given .

  He has a 100% pass rate among his pupils and yesterday he sent me a delightful note sent to him by his latest successful candidate .Just to let you know the fabulous news that I passed .You can now definitely keep your 100% pass rate !Thanks so much for everything !I really appreciate all the time you put into me getting on the road .I enjoyed every minute .

Nice when somebody takes the time to appreciate your efforts .I would think if he teaches you ,you would be afraid to fail .Can you imagine ringing him and saying "Here bud your fucking useless at teaching I crashed on the roundabout ??/

How many taxi drivers took the opportunity to retrain during the Killer Cough and took up other jobs .Tony I think is back trucking The Rodent has a side hustle as a Qualified Driving Instructor ,I did a ADR Driving Licence and another Driver now no longer posting is sitting his University Finals this year .I know a few lads not taxi drivers who changed jobs after the lockdown be interesting to find out how many drivers took up other jobs and now only work the weekends .I notice a good few stickered motors parked outside factories in Bluebell and Clondalkin that were not there before the Deadly Cough .

Real wages dont go as far as they use to .I had a fella in the car on Saturday I know who he is but cant remember his name .Think he was a Labour TD at one time .He asked how is business I said Surviving .Then he said real wages need to go up and the inside track is Plumbers on some of the Big Sites are voting for Strike action .If its an official Strike then others will not pass the Picket .He said it is not about Plumbers Wages its about Construction wages in General .They never recovered to what they were in 2008 before the Crash 14 years later and most Trades Man are earning less than they did .I asked him if wages go up then costs go up then house prices go up interest rates up so people cannot afford to buy houses so builders will be well paid but Unemployed .His answer was .Thats not my issue ,my issue is getting the Pay Rates restored .

Me uncle was a Brickie use to say lads were building a harness for their backs .Brickies getting a £ a block loved the Forklift and ready mixed mortar kept things moving so they could earn .When they had two labourers per brickie one delivering blocks to where you wanted them and a lad on the mixer everybody got paid .Then one lad on a forks could tend a crew of brickies but the Employers then done away with the £ a block and Brickies got day rate and the Forks driver got an extra few quid in his pocket to make sure the Brikies never went short or had time to piss or smoke .The Taxi is not the worst job out there .

(The reason its the Plumbers that are voting .Plumbers only work on site unlike Joiners or Electricians who can work in Production oe assembly  in Factories )

Merch I ran into a Pub on Saturday for a piss good crowd but I doubt there was anybody under 30 in the Place just older lads watching the racing and nursing a Pint .Price of drink is an advertisement for Drugs .Off Licence Prices going up from today by about 10c a bottle 15 on a can and up to 4 euro on a bottle of Brandy .Mr Woo has put up his prices as well our local Chinaman whatever she use to order is now 2.40 dearer  You give Norrie the Nonce twenty Five and dont even wait on the change you look like a cunt waiting for 70 or 80 cent but when it was 3 euro change you took it after all you paid the 2.50 delivery charge that had gone up 50c as well .Not too many lads wanting to be barmen anymore unless its the family business.

Ya have to be joking about plumbers and tradesmen not earning-the coin that they were earning and will give a example.Another ball cock went again in the house and this time I went on line to get a plumber to fix it as the fittings are extinct and its not just a 5 mins replace and screw-on job.They all thought it was a straight 10 min job and 3 said they would get back to me and it shouldnt be more than 100e….The only plumber I got was asking no more that 150e, with a take it or leave it attitude.He never turned up and when I rang him, he said he was running late and that it would be next day!…I replaced it eventually myself but it was a 2 hour job for me as things were not straight forward.Had a same type story with a plasterer a while ago and the cash only tax cheating  tradesmen? are a law to themselves. The alarm guy wanted 140e or 12oe cash to call and replace-a  5 euro battery.  Its still rip off Ireland in all departments!!!  in facta Bertie for Pressy!!

Ah Coola Plumbers .My heating was fucked but the Queen of Sheba insists on a Plumber I could of done it myself but cant listen to her supervising over me shoulder .Anyway a friend of a friend gets a lad he comes out part fixes it says I need to drain down the system its sludgey again I say I will do it but she says let the Plumber .Lad is a decent sort looking for Bathroom replacements as they carry a grant so prices have increased to reflect the free money from government .I ring a fella I use to work with and he says his old oil heating is acting up I didnt ring him about plumbing it came up in conversation .So I ring my Plumber he turns up says I need a Part gets 90 euro call out charge and on 4 occasions promised to be out that day and somebody had to wait in he never turned up .Now what this cunt didnt know is the lad he let down his Sister is the Contract manager for Age Concerne or Age Action and they are always looking for Registered Plumbers to do Grant aided work .They do all the applications for the Grants you just quote and cover the work .He fucked up there could of landed on his feet with that introduction .Thats Plumbers now Doctors had a bowl scan three weeks ago got a callback to the hospital for whenever they feel like it but got the Bill within 7 days .Called my doctor to ask for the results of the scan .He said they never informed him .Coola nobody gives a fuck or takes pride in their work .I have been driving 16 years and I have never missed a pickup or turned up late to a booking .
