The great thing about PTSE was it being tax free and available to low earners after Meehaul took our PUP away... and without any means test. You just had to convince your wan down the dole office that you deserved it which took a couple of calls in my case. I was surprised that the lady I dealt with had access to my tax returns going back quite some time and was able (by deduction) to suggest that I never worked more than 20 hours per week in my life... and could also tell me that I was the only taximan / taxi driver in the beautiful seaside resort town of Balbriggan to apply for the scheme at that juncture... plenty of hurdles but we cleared them all through meaningful dialogue in the end!
