Driver refused fare because he wouldn't fold down back seat

Had an odd one today.  Pulled into an apartment block just as a Tesla was pulling out.  The girl was a party organiser (balloons etc) and have a lightweight 5ft metal stand with her.  She asked me to fold down one of the back seats so she could throw it in the boot.  No problem, says I, and off we went.

She said the (new Irish) Tesla driver refused the FreeNow fare because he didn't want to damage his taxi by folding one of the back seats!  And it got me thinking... We can refuse a fare if the passenger is drunk/dangerous, won't pay and/or the distance is over 30km.  Can we refuse a fare because we don't like the luggage - the look of it or the size of it?

Would you refuse a fare is you had to fold down the back seat(s) in your taxi?  What if it was some rich guy with skis?  Is it legal/illegal?  When some people could potentially vomit/shit on your back seat, business must be good if some are refusing easy fares like that?

He was Correct we are licenced to carry PASSENGERS .Rule of thumb can I carry the full compliment of passengers with the seat folded down .Are you insured if you are modifying the seating to carry Cargo ?I decide depending on the personal approach taken by the passenger .I have both accepted and refused .Its the drives choice he was absolutely Correct .

It was't a house-moving job.  It was a 5ft sign that said Happy Birthday on it.  The sign was lightweight and probably more plastic than metal.  It lay flat on the boot floor. 

It said 'Happy Birthday' on it so it wasn't going to hit anyone!    Karma 'n all that

Nothing to do with the OP but...

There are a lot of EVs that are way too nice to be taxis.In the last two weeks I've been stuck behind a BZ4X that couldnt fit down Nicholas ave D7 (Google it cos I had to) without driving on the footpath.They're lovely but the size of a land cruiser from 2006.

Then a few days ago I was behind a new Kia Ev6 that could not advance down St Peters road D7 without yielding to everything else.What's the point in having these lovely cars if they're not for for purpose?

I really dont think Dublin is ready for these much bigger vehicles.The lanes are getting narrower everyday.

Merch EV are going to be expensive to run .The Government are selling anchorage for wind Turbines off the coast @ 150 euro per windmill per hour for every hour it is generating .That is the most expensive anchorage on the Planet .That will be passed on to consumers .The days of Cheapish Electricity in Ireland are over .Especially as the Government GUARENTEE cheap Electricity to Data Centers .EVs will make environmental sence but not economic .Even the Germans are rowing back on no Dirty fuel vehicles after  2035 .

Note also the Camry has a poor turning circle. 'Twould never qualify for London.

Yeas it is worse, and the Merc wasn't great, but at least the cameras are a help for the 3 point turn.
