Sum up acting up again again
« on: June 04, 2023, 12:01:50 pm »
Sum up machine back to charging VAT .Follow the instruction of tapping on the icon top right go to tax then tap 0 vat save ,then it goes back to 23% VAT next fare .

How to solve it permanently .When you go into tax it will show 9,13,23% .If you tap on 23% you should see a red X if you hit the backspace on the keypad you can eliminate this permantly .Then repeat it for the other two tax rates until the screen reads 000000 for all tax rates .

When I pressed the red X the line disappeared so I don't have any tax rates reading 000000 with the relevant section just reading "No VAT"... seems to work anyway... prior to that I had to select the VAT rate for every job... although I did consider just telling the clients there's 23% VAT on card jobs which they could avoid by paying cash!

Even though mine shows the 23% VAT,I check to make sure on the amount I input is being charged.

What you need to check is that it is not adding ON the VAT to the fare you input .Dont think revenue would be pleased if they found you charging TAX illegally .Since they added the VAT feature there is a small lozenge on screen that displays the actual amount to be paid by the customer .

It's not adding it on John....but I do see that it calculates the  VAT that brings it to the amount that's inputted.....I've removed the other three VAT amounts from the app and I'll keep an eye that it doesn't revert back as you say.

I changed my VAT rate to zero when this subject was mentioned a few weeks ago, it's still holding at zero today.

I was checking my sales on the SumUp app and I noticed one of my transactions as Unsuccessful....I remember the fare,Merrion Rd into Baggot St Upr(€8.60)...but I thought if a fare was Unsuccessful the phone screen lights up to let you know,I know for a fact the transaction was successful as it reverted back to the screen where a receipt can be sent or Skip...anyone know how to raise a dispute in relation to that?...I clicked on the job but doesn't let you report it from there.

No idea... but I'm guessing the fee will exceed the fare.

I hold on to the terminal show it to the fare until is shows that it has completed .But like you said it usually trows up a yellow screen transaction failed .

There is an online chat support team in the support section, hope that helps, but I doubt it ??

I know for a fact the terminal said approved, even the chime it emits for a successful transaction was audible and it would have....should have had the transaction failed screen on my phone...which it didn't.

Was on to SumUp support, they say the transaction was reversed and authorised shortly afterwards...they never received the funds so can't help me...it was a FreeNow job so I've sent them a message using Help on that particular job....see what their response is considering I paid commission on the job.

That was a proper scumy thing fer the customer to do, unless it was a stolen card.

Most likely FN will advise you to go to the Gardai and if they can assist the Gardai then they will and in the meantime your commission on the fare will be refunded, in an automated email.

Thankfully it's only 8 'n change, I'll defo be more reluctant to take card on a long (over a nifty) job after reading that.
