Beware Free Now Phone Calls

Friday evening I received a call at 22:09 from a Free Now client (via 01 5920304) who believed I drove the relevant passenger from an address in Coolock @ 21:50 to a specified public house in the same area, informing me that the passenger had dropped a sum of money in my car. Problem is I never done the job... in fact I was on another Free Now job from Artane to Cloghran at the time which was my third Free Now job of the evening and neither of the other 2 matched either the pick up address or the drop off point.

So, I explain to the caller (who initially called me by name) that I had nothing to do with the job. 22:12 they ring back pretty insistant that I done the job and giving the distinct impression that they believe I half inched their used notes. Again I explained that I had nothing to do with the job and hadn't done any even vaguely similar job that evening. I advised them to contact support to find out who the driver was and they very reluctantly went away.

I contacted Free Now this morning and the first chap I spoke with wanted me to go up to the depot with the call log before we either got disconnected or he hung up! Anywaysanall, I rang back and spoke with another chap who said he'd look into it and let me know if/when they find out what went wrong. I asked him to contact the passenger and explain that the driver who's details were provided (me!) had nothing to do with the job which hopefully he will do.

Anyone who works my circuit will know that a lot of Free Now jobs involve people buying or selling drugs, often not the sort of people you want to get the 'erm end of the stick when it come to someone's hard earned going missing.

i had a dodgy one round a month ago.

it rang a few times that night. did'nt know howta answer it but charged it up.
the follyin day it rang and i managed to answer it. a french girl.

the phone rings again and i answer it. an aussie.

But they did arrange contact between you an the ape tru ther own anonymous phone line ....is that correct ratti ?

As I said before I complained wen I got a runner to them fukers ....an asked for ther cooperation in revealing the apes details so I cud pursue it wit guardai ( I knew the cnuts wudny but I put it up to tye cnuts ) an they told me under gdpr or sumtin they not allowed an basically told me to  rite fuck off wit meself ......YOU ARE ENTITLEDTO THE SAME PRIVACY PROTECTION ....

They don't give the client your number, as such, Octy. Their call masking system allows the client telephone you for up to 72 hours after any job. However, they do give the client your name and plate number. In this case, given that the client called me by name it's safe to assume that they have incorrectly given my name and plate number in respect of a job I had nothing to do with. While I'm not suggesting the client in question poses any danger it certainly wouldn't take long to find me from my plate number if they wanted to.

So you cover work in an area where no Bonus is offered to encourage others to operate (I wonder why ) then they send your ID to an Unknown who may wish to cause you harm .Your Doctor will need to see you and possibly perscribe Valium and Rest and you need to get exact details of what happened for that nice Girl that bites .You must be very anxious and feel terribly vunerable with your ID floating around .Has your retained Rothweiler contacted them yet on your behalf .

On looking at the facts of the case and after checking my own personal CUSTOMER FN app history.
I would guess that the person who rang you was a previous client of yours from less that 72 hours ago and they had gone to their FN customer history of trips which would show the name of the driver and also offer the option to contact the driver.

Only guessing here but most likely there was some element of chemical entertainment going on with the customer and again most likely he had rung every other taxi driver whose car they had been in fer the previous 72 hours.

FN do not on the Driver app offer the same 72 hour contact fer a driver to a customer and in reality it should be the same on the customer app. You leave something in the cab, contact support.

That is not true Octy, if you had done it properly like you stated, firstly you would have reported it to FN an that is the reply you would have got also stating that if you wish to pursue it with the Gardai then they would provide the Gardai with any help required.
But you didn't, you just went off on a rant never bothering to contact Gardai and with the vain hope that FN would give you the runner's phone number so as you could roar some abuse down the phone line at them.

FN don't give customers phone numbers to drivers under any circumstances and on looking at some of the nut-jobs on here using it (Octy especially) I reckon that is a pretty good policy.

I just do it the old fashion way Ken, I find it myself.  In saying that I don't need to earn much these days. Semi-retired kinda.
