free now malarky
« on: June 17, 2023, 08:12:24 pm »
a handful of times i've picked people up and they say freenow has already taken €15 or whatever from my account for the fare.
so if the fare is €20 they say i only needta give ye €5.
ye get no notification on your side of the app or antin.
i never know what the fuck they're talkin about or what the fuck is going on.
anybody have any idea.

If you are Pay By app .They have a Logorythm that checks you have enough money in your account to cover the fare and put a lean on an amount of cash to cover the fare or part of it .The cash has not been deducted yet only reserved for payment .So the customer will see a figure reserved for payment of the trip but nothing will have been deducted from their account until you input the fare .
"Ahfuck

They usually quote between 2 amounts on the client's app i.e.€15-€17. Dont no whether they put a hold on the lesser or greater amount.
Trump has called for help, so I'm on a plane heading for The Strait of Hormuz, talk soon.

All customers get confused by that pre-authorisation thing, it was explained to everyone very well by email when it was introduced about a year or so ago, unfortunately it was well hidden in a very long FN email about E-scooters in Italy, and all other stuff. Hence nobody at all ever read all of that email (except me).

The simple thing fer drivers is just to assure the passenger that they will only be charged the metered fare.
And just input the proper metered fare and that's it.

I had a young lass losing her life over that issue last year, it was a meaty enough job and she had a taxi on the way and her card had been pre-authorized but then the first driver cancelled.
She re-booked and got me and I spent the entire journey trying to convince her that she would not be Double-charged.

Slipping the pre-authorisation issue in to a long news-feed email was not FN's best ever idea !

So in relation to that FN job I did back on June 6th where it was a non app payment,I "reached out" to FN...and basically there's nothing they can do but pass my number(with my permission) to that customer and see if they want to contact me....so there ye have it folks...book taxis on FN using the non app payment....pay by card but don'tgive the driver your number to send you a receipt...and shortly after it's approved, ring your bank and request a chargeback....cos nuttin will come of it!!

I've often cleared a job on FN for say, a tenner then process it via sum up, and the punter reckons they already paid. Don't be caught out. Ensure the sum up job is paid then clear the FN screen.

It was SB....SumUp told me that shortly after it was processed(approved) the charge was reversed and authorised (by her bank I assume) but the funds didn't reach SumUp....so they say!!

That makes more sense now, she prob saw the FN receipt on her phone and not realising it was a cash receipt, she thought the driver was double charging her on sumup and cancelled the sumup payment and then ignored all the further emails.
