OGR boat race.
« on: August 18, 2023, 12:44:26 pm »
OGR or Ocean Globe race starts in a few weeks time, similar to the GGR but with fully manned crews.

Two Irish sailors involved; Roisin O’Halloran (20) will be on board the Translated 9, and Terry Kavanagh (55) will be on board the the Explorer, amongst a fleet of 14 yachts due to set sail from Southampton on September 10th.

Terry Kavanagh's misses Jacqueline is the OGR media manager, a Gas woman ! Surely a Dub ?

Can't get the enthusiasm for fully crewed.
Trump has called for help, so I'm on a plane heading for The Strait of Hormuz, talk soon.

I was very slow myself to join in, but then I emailed the OGR team asking about Irish sailors in the event,
and very unexpectantly the OGR media manager Jacqueline Kavanagh emailed me back, a Gas woman !
whom as it turned out was Terry Kavanagh's misses. Terry is First mate on one of the Big boats in the race
skippered by 'Captain Coconut' Mark Sinclair, the mad Aussie guy who flounderd in Lanzarote during the GGR.

Terry Kavanagh (Dublin) First mate on the Explorer yacht, currently at the very back end of the fleet is looking at some seriously bad Southern ocean weather over the next few days.
