Ironman deaths
« on: August 21, 2023, 08:00:45 pm »
My niece does the Kessock swim: https://aban.scot/kessock-ferry-swim/overview above in Inverness. no way would the organisers allow them to do the 1.2 KM swim in the conditions that prevailed in Cork.

From the Kessock photo, there was almost one kayak per three swimmers. Also a RIB on standby.

Organisers to blame here? They were not given permission to hold it and went ahead with it after 2 men die.Did you see the size of the waves? C:-)

Terrible tragedy which really should have been avoided considering there was an orange weather warning just the day before. Down here in the South we deal with the North Atlantic ocean and it is a savage beast and seldom takes prisoners.
I was very surprised after seeing the sea conditions that the event took place, and terrible now to see the in-house squabbling over whose fault it was.

Ken Cork County Council sponsored the event to bring in tourists .Ironman is an American Events Company who make their money running events Triatlon Ireland are a Sports body who recognise the event for the purpose of rating athletes for selection for International Competition ..Irinman were always going to run the event they did not want to refund entry fees .Cork City Council wanted it to go ahead for Commercial reasons .Triatlon Ireland sanctioned the event or did not sanction it .The Bigger issue is after the book passing will anybody be charged with endangering life or Corporate negligence Cork County Council seem to be saying nothing at all keeping the head down and the gob shut .

There were probably trying to carry the bikes on their shoulders.I deffo would have drowned doing this.I can't even swim a length of the pool.

I picked up a chap last week who said he fukked his legs after a Marathon years ago.Apparenty the muscles in is legs expanded after the race and pulled all sorts of tendons apart and now the damage is permanent.

The mad thing was he said he didn't regret the races even though he couldnt walk home from work.People are nuts.

There will be blood,.....................one organisation  is saying they told them to call it off before it started and the other crowd admit they did but after the event had happened..... ::fight ::fight ::fight ::fight

In good old Irish fashion, there will be an inquiry, a report, and recommendations but no one will be held accountable.

Buried, just like the investigation into Olof Palme.
