I've researched this in great detail, Ken. There's some discrepancy between information supplied by Aircoach and information provided by DAA. Aircoach specify T1 Zone 2 whereas DAA specify T1 Zone 11. Zone's 2 and 11 are approximately 70-115 seconds and 90-135 seconds walk respectively from the arrivals hall exit door but, while they are not particularly far apart, they are in opposite directions (immediate left on exit for zone 2, straight through car park building and 2nd right for zone 11), so going to the wrong one could certainly reult in a missed bus. I note you say there is "another" bus from Aston Quay at 01:00. That is, in fact, the same bus. However, the journey into the city by express coach (which all relevant parties agree departs from zone 2) is approximately 21 mins, potentially allowing up to 9 minutes to change service. However, times may be affected by drop offs on the route and the route itself may not be direct. Further study would undoubtedly be required should serious consideration be given to such a contingency. Taking a taxi to chase the bus is unlikely to prove possible as it's extremely unlikely the taxi queue will be less than 45 minutes at that hour of a weekend. While you specify T1, you don't specify an airline. Ryanair is by far the largest airline based in T1 in Dublin. Most, if not all, post 6pm Ryanair flights are delayed by 28 mins or more, generally explained by cumulative minor delays throughout the day. In conclusion I'd suggest the chances of your son troubling you for a lift from that particular Aircoach service are somewhat remote... maybe 4/1 against?
