Be careful what you wish for.  Every new car sold in the EU from now has a speed limiter built into it but, afaik, it's not switched on yet.  So if he does change speed limits, the car might start to go slower by itself.

Eamo wants to bring in new speed restrictions as a knee jerk response to dead teenagers .Not considering if any of the Vehicles involved in the accidents had a Valid NCT or were they waiting years for an appointment .What effect does lower speeds have on milage of EVs does it reduce the range or extend it ?
Same as any car.  Less speed = less wind resistance = less engine work = increased mileage.

Not true .A 1 Liter engine gets less milage than a 1.4 as it uses more energy to get the car moving .That is why urban driving is less than motorway driving .

You've answered a different question  :P (apples v oranges instead of apples v slower moving apples)

The slower you are going the less momentum ,We do not drive our Diesel motors around all day in 1 st gear it would gobble up the juice so does slower travel use up more Electricity .If you bought the car without researching this point then just say I dont know !

An electric car only has one gear afaik.

The slower you are going the less momentum ,We do not drive our Diesel motors around all day in 1 st gear it would gobble up the juice so does slower travel use up more Electricity .If you bought the car without researching this point then just say I dont know !

And would that 'less momentum' have anything to do with wind resistance?

But to answer your question again, the slower you go in an EV, the less energy is required to push through the wind so your mileage/range is increased compared to high speed/high wind resistance driving.

Does urban driving under 40kph increase or decrease the range of an EV.
ChatGPT
Driving an electric vehicle (EV) at low speeds, specifically under 40 kilometers per hour (kph), can have both positive and negative effects on the vehicle's range, depending on various factors. Let's explore these factors:

Regenerative braking: At low speeds, EVs can benefit from regenerative braking, which converts kinetic energy back into electrical energy to recharge the battery. Slower urban driving often involves more frequent braking and deceleration, which can increase the amount of energy recovered through regenerative braking. This can contribute positively to the range of the EV.

Aerodynamics: Electric vehicles are designed to be more efficient at higher speeds due to improved aerodynamics. At speeds under 40 kph, the aerodynamic drag is relatively low, which can be beneficial for range as the vehicle doesn't need to overcome as much air resistance. However, this effect may not be as pronounced at such low speeds.

Efficiency: Electric vehicles tend to be more efficient at moderate speeds (typically between 40-60 kph) because they operate in their sweet spot. At very low speeds, some EVs may not be as efficient, and this could reduce range slightly.

Accessories and systems: While driving at low speeds, the power draw from accessories like air conditioning, heating, and infotainment systems can have a proportionally greater impact on range since the power needed for propulsion is reduced. Using these systems judiciously can help maintain or improve range.

Traffic conditions: Urban driving often involves frequent stops and starts, which can impact range negatively due to increased energy consumption during acceleration. Additionally, idling in traffic without moving can reduce range since the vehicle still consumes energy to operate its systems.

In summary, whether urban driving under 40 kph increases or decreases the range of an EV can depend on various factors, including the vehicle's design, driving conditions, and how efficiently the driver manages energy consumption. Regenerative braking and reduced aerodynamic drag at lower speeds can help offset the negative effects of frequent stops and starts, but it's essential to drive efficiently to maximize range in urban settings.

... .Most Free Now jobs are under a tenner . ....
Fer me they are the best jobs,
@ 15% commission + PUC, the short hops are what I look fer as PUC covers commission,
anything over 40 (busy hours) is not worth it as the commission is too high and most likely be coming home empty.

Eamo the Onion opens up a new War Front .Farmers have been told they are going to be limited to the amount of Cows they can keep on an acre of land based on how much Nitrate fertaliser they need to grow grass to feed a cow .If Farmers are told to reduce their Heards and not get big Dollars in Compo expect Dublin to be brought to a standstill with Tractors and Cattle everywhere .When you see a FF minister for Bullshit not standing up for farmers you know there will be trouble .I was watching the telly yesterday seen Dr Leo did he get a bit of a hair transplant during the Dail break ? He wants to look good on TV .Really think there will be a snap election after the budget .Things looking good enough to give this government a chance of re election but bad enough to sink the Shinners if they win .Leo says he wants to hold a referendum this year might be ideal time for a General election befotre the Bull Shit hits the fan .

The Govt fukked up twice with the environment.  The EU told the Govt they could keep their nitrates limit if they fixed the water in the rivers etc.  The Govt didn't improve the river water quality so the EU took away their lattitude to pollute the rivers with cow shit.

The Govt and the farmers can't complain about it now - it's been years in the making.  You know, a bit like us with the 9/10/15 year rule on our taxis  rofl

You always seem to think the answer to everything is a General election ?
And replace one Set, with another, expecting a different outcome ??

You can  have 10/1 with me fer whatever you want on an Irish general election in 2023 !
(Remeber 2022 ??).
