I don’t have any problem with taxis affiliated to a base.
A lot of drivers are only good for taking people home.
OK what other Business in told by the Regulator they want them to pay to work 15% to a base 1.7% to accept a card 1.50 per half hour to Rank off Street .THIS IS PRINTED IN BLACK AND WHITE IN THE TAXI REVIEW .Will they increase the Fares by 20% to cover the COSTS THEY WANT US TO PAY TO WORK .JESUS FUCKING WEPT you think its OK to HAVE TO PAY it wont be optional .
The OP is about your earnings being available to Revenue. It's not compulsory to be affiliated with an old-fashioned cab company OR a taxi app. It's at best desirable.
Think of all the pensioners working off App and off old-fashioned cab companies by working the street and supermarket ranks in order to avoid a digital footprint, which in turn affects their pensions.
Can you see them aligning with the rentiers?

evenings. This direct hail/rank practice does not attract the commission payable by drivers to a third
party app provider (10-15% of the fare), and so has its attractions for drivers when customers on street
are plentiful, such as in Dublin on a Saturday evening. Nor does a direct hail or taking from a rank

Whilst NTA has statutory responsibility for regulating (licensing and enforcement) the SPSV industry,
taxi drivers are self-employed individuals and as such decide on their own business strategies within
the regulatory framework. Affiliation with a booking service provider or accepting work when so
affiliated is not regulated by NTA. As a result, NTA is limited in its ability to address demand issues
outside of incentivising drivers to operate during peak times.
Nothing the NTA can do about our business strategy.
