I see that NXT are switching to the icabbi system very soon. I wonder is that leading somewhere........ a shared competing app with all icabbis, or a sale?
Trump has called for help, so I'm on a plane heading for The Strait of Hormuz, talk soon.

I knew Kearns was backward but I didn't think the NRC lads were.

Icabbi was muck.

Got another reply as follows:

Hello Stephen.

Thanks for your response.

I've looked into your account and I can confirm that the Hospitality jobs have been removed from your account. However, hotels can request normal taxis and you will receive these requests on your app. If you see that it's a hotel job, you don't have to accept it.

We have taken note of this and we will share this feedback directly with the hotels to stop requesting normal taxis to prevent this from happening.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

If there is anything else I can assist you with please do not hesitate to let me know otherwise, I hope you have a lovely day!

Best regards,

To which I have responded:

Hi *****,

Many thanks for your reply.

This latest update makes little or no sense to me. In suggesting that Hotels can request either “Normal” or, by inference, abnormal taxis you seem to intimate that the abnormal taxis are operated by those drivers who have yet to opt out of hospitality jobs. It would therefore seem logical to conclude that in requesting normal taxis the hospitality fee should not arise yet you seem to suggest that the hotels can circumvent your systems and, at the press of a button, negate all the effort you have put into devising an opt out facility. Perhaps you can clarify some of this by clearly defining normal and abnormal taxis and briefly explaining how your programmers envisaged an “opt out” facility might work to be considered fit for purpose. Simply blaming mean and nasty hotel staff for pressing wrong buttons is, frankly, a rather lame excuse for what is clearly incompetent programming.

Also, you have failed to address the reconciliation issue i.e. why I given a partial credit (46c) for the hospitality fee (€2.00) that should never have arisen.

Your continued attention to the same is very mush appreciated and I look forward to your response.

Best Regards,

Stephen.

I'll be surprised if you get a reply.

Got a reply, Ken.... suggesting an investigation has been carried out or, at least, initiated:

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us about your feedback for FREE NOW. We appreciate your feedback and this is vital for us to improve our services and features for drivers.

We also recommend that you take part in our driver surveys and focus groups to help us improve.

Please be assured that this was investigated by our Driver team and the necessary steps will be taken.

If there is anything else I can assist you with please do not hesitate to let me know otherwise, I hope you have a lovely day!

Best Regards,

To which I have replied:

Hi *****,

Thank you for your response.

I would be obliged if you or your driver team could communicate the outcome of the investigation you mention, in particular to explain how the (to date) inexplicable credit of 46c reconciles with the charge of €2.00 that should never have arisen, noting that I am still out of pocket to the tune of €1.54. While that might not seem like a lot of money it’s probably worth considering in the context of a potential systematic issue i.e. if hundreds of thousands of these €1.54s are similarly unexplained I’m sure the investigation team and/or your internal and/or external auditors will have some interest in figuring out how and where the relevant funds are being appropriated.

Your continued attention to the same is very much appreciated and I look forward to a more substantive response.

Best Regards,

Stephen.

Their reply is laughable Stephen, it's a cut and paste job from a few auto responses blended together.

And most likely that is all you will ever get on this query.

Ah, Ken. There's an investigation. What more could I ask for... apart from the return of my €1.54.

On a similar note, the all new Opt out/in payment feature on FN still sends me non-app payment jobs even after opting out.

They seem to do as they please, again after opting Out of non-app payments last weekend they still keep sending me non-app payment offers, I contemplated sending them an email on the subject but thought the better of it.

The only response you get these days from FN is an auto response or a blend of auto responses, I don't think the call center staff are allowed to actually respond unless it's a critical situation and all the auto responses have been used up and then you just might get a manager, maybe .....

That picture looks like you have "Accept non-app payments" turned on rather than off, Ken?

Why don't you want money, anyway?

I switch reguarly between 'Accept' and 'Non Accept'.

In general on weekend nights (when I seldom have the app on) it goes to 'Non Accept' about 10pm till 6am the next morning, the reason being that the Cash jobs are often customers calling cabs fer drunk friends or pub staff calling fer drunk customers, also no shows are much more commonplace on cash jobs by night.

If'n I get caught to do a street job going Northside anytime then it's 'Non Accept' only up in red-neck country and only accepting app payment jobs going back to civilisation.

If'n dropping at a town outside the city anytime then it's 'Accept' anything even with a Bed logo on it that will bring me home, and if I happen to remember I change my radius to 10km.

Got another reply from the depot:

Hello Stephen.

Thanks for your response and apologies for the delay.

Can you please send a screenshot of the €0.46 credit so I can look into this further?

Waiting for your response.

Best regards,

To which I have responded (attaching the relevant invoice):

Hi *****,

Thank you for your response.

Please find attached PDF copy of the invoice within which both the “Hospitality Charge Ireland” (€2.00) and the seemingly random “Hospitality Rebate…” (€0.46) were notified to me.

Your continued attention to the same is very much appreciated and I eagerly anticipate a rational explanation!

Best Regards,

Stephen O’Connell

Finally got my €1.54 back, albeit without resolving why they saw fit to give a little bit back when they first charged the extra commission. I'll leave it there anyway... at least until it happens again!

Response from the depot:

Hello Stephen.

Thanks for your response.

I've requested the credit of the remaining amount into your account (€1.54) which you will see on your next week's earnings.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

If there is anything else I can assist you with please do not hesitate to let me know otherwise, I hope you have a lovely day!
