@Belker I'm paying 12% on Uber so it's enough to make a difference at the end of the year.It just so happens I get tipped on Uber sometimes but with Freenow that's rare thing thanks to the technology fee.

15-12=3 still but I'm not a smart man like you Belker...

Has the No Contact Fee policy changed again?

I got paid one last week yet I only completed 14 jobs for the week, 8 before the relevant job, with an acceptance rate of 44% and a cancellation rate of 6%. I thought you had to do a minimum of 20 jobs or some such to get no contact fees?

Got paid as promised this week as per extract from payslip below:

Panic over for me but anyone else with these unexplained partial rebates should follow them up, I guess.

Have any of ye had this problem with freenow, I got a job I went the fare but before I could get into the 300 zone before you can press arrived the pickup had contacted me and moved down the road to meet as the traffic was crap, i started the meter but couldn't do anything else with the app it just wouldn't let press arrived to get into payments. I was completely blocked from working the app and I was owed 17 euro the passenger showed me her apple pay and free now did a preauthorisation of 18 euros, so I said head off I'll deal with it as it's not your fault, the traffic was shit and she needed to get to a train in 20 mins. Are free now easy to contact on the phone and do they have is all tracked. About 25 mins after I got the job the job cancelled which freed up everything but I'm 17 yo yos down.

I don't think I've ever had that exact problem.  But the app has frozen on me plenty of times before or even during a job!  I find if I 'force close' the app and restart it, all the data comes back and the app works.

AFAIK, the data is kept on the 'central computer' in Germany or wherever and it just sends us data as we need it.  So if you force close the app and restart it, the central computer just sends you all the data again and you're good to go (in theory).  I used to get annoyed about it but then once I accepted the app is consistently crap, my calmness returned  O:-)

Keep us posted on this C5.
I have often wondered about such a scenario where the customer walks out to meet the incoming taxi and walks more than 300 meters beyond their home/pick-up destination to meet him. Does the taxi then have to drive back to within 300 meters to start the job ?

@belker I phoned them and a nice Dublin fella answered and he said they are keeping the 300 metre thing  because of abuse of some sort I think he said hitting it to early or something like that, then the passenger is waiting longer then they think, but there is an update coming for the passenger side of the app where it live tracks them so if they come out of a large industrial estate to meet you it will free up the arrived button, but it's an opt in only but he said everything is tracked and stored he saw where I arrived and dropped off, just keep the receipt when you ring and explain what happened and tell them the fare and distance covered so they see the same figure on their end. If they pay via the app they take a preauthorisation of the fare so your safe there if it's cash your ok but you still contact them or they will ring you or email you on what the problem was. But in the end you get your fare. My fare was logged and I'll be paid for it as normal next Wednesday. Jesus Christ I just realised nearly wrote a novel there.

Had a broadly similar one where I lost connectivity so the arrived button didn't work until I regained connectivity out of range. I just told the client the app isn't working so cash was required. Once you cancel the job the hold on their funds ought to be returned in due course.

I noticed when one rejects or ignores Free Now Jobs of a Saturday/Sunday afternoon/evening they more often than not pop up again as "Prioity Taxi" jobs with a €3 bonus. I'm guessing the client is given the opportunity to pay a surge fee of up to €20 with €3 being offered to the driver. Anyone know if that's how it works?
Thats a new trick that i have recently taken on board, after dropping in the many towns outside the city by night and turning on the app hoping fer a job back to the city it often sends out very short local jobs within the town that are not really worth the effort, but if you reject them then very often they pop back up in a minute with a Bobo attached.
