Free Now Priority Jobs
« on: February 11, 2024, 01:03:11 pm »
I noticed when one rejects or ignores Free Now Jobs of a Saturday/Sunday afternoon/evening they more often than not pop up again as "Prioity Taxi" jobs with a €3 bonus. I'm guessing the client is given the opportunity to pay a surge fee of up to €20 with €3 being offered to the driver. Anyone know if that's how it works?
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

I used to think it was a pre-booked job that nobody picked up so they were trying to fob it off on the general driver population.  But RC's guess sounds more likely.  Robbin' basturds  >:D

I THINK that when a customer requests a Priority job the tech fee increases to a Fiver fer the customer.
FN then send out the job with no bobo attached hoping to trouser the full tech fee, if no driver accepts it then it is offered out again with a promise of 'Priority status' fer the driver (which he already might have), again if no driver accepts that offer the the €3 bobo is added and sent out again, Etc.

It is a strange and flawed system, in recent times after dropping in the satelitte town of Carrigaline 10km outside of Cork city, I have twice been offered the Pink flagged Bobo job with a cash incentive to take a customer back to Cork city, if the job had a Bed logo on it I still would have taken it just to get paid to go back to the city.

They do that too but they only offer the Bobo after the first round of offers have been refused, most usually it is not that the offer has not been accepted but some b@stard taxi driver took it earlier and then Fooked it back.

It's all very confusing, Ken... I was never part of the Reserve Fleet yet routinely received 'Reserve Taxi' offers. I didn't have priority last Saturday yet received several 'Priority Taxi' offers after rejecting or ignoring the same jobs as run of the mill everyday offers.

However, I reckon you're probably right in concluding that they add the surge fee before the first (bonusless) offer goes out given that the jobs do seem to bounce back with the bonus quite quickly.

I accepted an airport from the Artane ryndabyte last night. Only when I was processing it for the sum of €21.80 did I realise the poor sucker must have pressed the wrong button and I got a €10 bonus.

Coincidentally, she was going to Barcelona for an academic conference to do with platform technology and the so-called gig economy.

I THINK "Reserve fleet" is just some fancy name that FN dreamed up to try to get more folk to use the Priority option, and I THINK that the Reserve fleet is ALL FN drivers.

what are these €3 and €4 bonuseses attached to jobs you see sporadically? how are they calculated and do you actually get sent the €3 and €4.

They use to be Pink flagged across the top of the job offer before but the colour has changed in recent times, but anyway the job offer will show as a Bonus job and show you what bonus is on offer. If it is an accont job then the bonus shows on your payout immediately, if it's a non-app payment then the Bonus will show in your next statement under scrubs and bonuses paid to you.
I have had a good few "Instant Priority" and €3 and €5 Bobo offers but I have never seen a Tenner one.

It seems to be the surge pricing jobs. Free Now charge surge fees of up to €20 and seemingly dispatch the job as normal in the first instance. If it's not taken they offer Instant Priority with it and if it's still not taken they offer a €3 bonus and if it's still not taken they offer a €4 bonus and if it's still not taken they offer a €5 bonus.

It's a strange form of regulation on the part of NTA. Drivers may not charge any more than the metered fare including the PUC which hasn't increased in c.20 years but licensed dispatch firms may charge whatever they like... all why we're reading reports of drivers having to live in homeless shelters. I guess it's fairly obvious that Free Now controls Minister Ryan and NTA through "lobbying" (bribery).

If it was 5am in the morning, the guy probably woulda paid anything to be sure to be sure to get to the airport?

The Strange part was that it was first offered with a Fiver Bobo, I had the app open fer a good 5 minutes before it was first offered and would have happily taken it without the Bobo.

Maybe it was a pre-book and the other driver didn't turn up.  5-10 mins would be an eternity if you were waiting for a taxi to drive you to the airport for 2 weeks of sun, sea, and... sangria  :P
