Australian tourist attacked nine strangers on Dublin streets during ‘mental break’

An Australian woman attacked nine “complete strangers” on the streets of Dublin, pushing over victims including an 85-year-old woman and a terrified four-year-old boy.
Elizabeth Windsor (49), also shoved a pregnant woman to the ground as she waited at a bus stop and punched a university student in the throat.

Windsor had come to Ireland as a tourist when she suffered a “severe mental break” and carried out a spate of “horrible” random, unprovoked assaults, a court heard.

Judge John Hughes adjourned sentencing at Dublin District Court. Windsor pleaded guilty to assault charges over a four-month period between January and April last year.

Unfortunately, it was all too much for her and she's been in the Central mental Hospital since last year.  She's doing better now she's on tablets (another Dublin custom!) and the Australian embassy are going to fly her home once her court case is finalised.

Why is the Central Mental Hospital 23 Kilometres outside of Dublin in Portrane?

Property prices, SB. It used to be in Dundrum which is fairly central albeit south of the great divide.

32 people have died as a result of RTAs so far this year, Watty. If I'm not mistaken that significantly exceeds the number of lives lost as a result of (gang) violence on the streets of Dublin yet seems to attract significantly less discussion within media/political circles.

Sand, or rather, sandcastles.  Building sandcastles is a well-known treatment for the mentally ill.  It's like a metaphor for rebuilding their scattered minds.  And then there's the ice cream afterwards.  They say it's for the patient's benefit but, really, it's a little treat for the staff.

I think it's because NCD is deemed a psychiatric illness hotspot, and the relatives don't have that far to travel.
