Dublin gardaí arrest illegal taxi operator driving around with baton and pepper spray

Quote
Dublin gardaí have arrested a driver who had been operating as a taxi without the proper insurance or tax while a baton and a can of suspected pepper spray were found in the vehicle.  Gardaí mounted a number of checkpoints around the capital at the weekend and busted five motorists.  One person was caught with pepper spray and a baton hidden inside their vehicle.

A Garda spokesperson said today: “Recently we carried out several multi-agency checkpoints targeting illegal taxis on Pearse Street, Essex Quay and Pembroke Street Upper.  “As a result, five vehicles were seized for having no tax or insurance.  “Furthermore a car was stopped and found to be operating as a taxi without the proper insurance or tax.  "A baton and a can of suspected pepper spray were found and seized following a search of the vehicle.”  The driver was arrested during the operation and an appearance in court is set to follow.

Re the 2nd paragraph, I wonder if it was 5 private cars or 5 taxis that were caught without tax & insurance?  Sounds like 5 taxis?

Yeah, the words are all garbled  >:D

It was an op targeting taxis but they seized 5 vehicles and a car was stopped and found to be a fake taxi!

Maybe the PR garda had a few pints himself writing the press release  ::cheers

Immigrant?
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
