worked last Saturday night, was sitting in the rank for 1 hour, then I got 5 euro for the first trip  :'( people aren't going out as much and those that are out are watching what they are spending, a lot like to pay by card so they don't have to give you a tip, fare is 9:80, that is all they will give you, they wont even round it off to 10, so you end up getting 9:30 or something like that, waste of time, you would be better off getting a good nights sleep.

The Taxis for Ireland Coalition, which is made up of a number of companies and organisations representing firms, says the dramatic drop in available taxis raises concerns for the country's vital hospitality industry and everyday passengers, particularly tourists.

If you look at  the healy rae  family  criminal Mafia syndicate for example who are endlessly calling out for uber and more taxis and blaming ( scapegoating ) the taxi industry for a drop. in tourism and small businesses and pubs takings .........you then see the full hypocrisy an gaslighting  exposed  to its fullest extent by these greedy bastard criminals an ther mates in dail eireann who are acting purely out of self interest .
These traitors to the Irish people  the healy raes for example are taking in 10s of thousands a week running accommodation centers for alledged asylum seekers ....
ther paid at the tax payers expense guaranteed 365 days a year income .....whilst the real reason for the drop in income for tourism dependent communities is the lack of accommodation for tourists because ther full of economic migrants.....

These bastards don't care  what happens  to taxi drivers incomes . when this country goes into a recession....and you all felt its first  wobble in December and wer talkin about it here .....I'm sure the taxi drivers in killarney for example feel it alot more than we do in Dublin....
We also are aware that these same greedy bastard criminals are being influenced ( paid ) by uber

We now see that the government  ( criminal class ) to counter the overwhelming resistance to their criminality  have given voting rites to alledged assylum seekers and are using immigrants to prop up ther rapidly depleting support because the indigenous population are finally aware of ther treason to the Irish Republic and its citizens.....
For what died the sons of roisin indeed .....
The most corrupt country on earth ....

I find it intriguing that only yesterday that the restaurant association or watever it called  was crying yesterday on the "irish media "That 200 restaurants in Ireland have closed since January  and today we have this " coalition " of unknown " firms and businesses "  demanding more taxis ......
We've all bean here before .......
We have war in Europe now , Israel being bombed , inflation tru the roof , the property market sky high ....nobody wants to believe hard times are comin ....but they always do ....an they definitely will come sooner than we think

I know from chatting people in the taxi in their early 20s that they see spending money on drink to be a waste of money, they only do it the odd time, like once a month or even once every 2 months, where as I was out every weekend when I was their age plus 1 or 2 week nights in college.

the thick pub and nightclub owners who are from the generation above me, cant see this as a reason their pubs arent as busy as a few years ago so they can blame us and convince themselves Uber will bring back the boom for them.

I know people who died in their 30s and I think a lot of it is from binge drinking in their 20s, maybe we are better off without all the drink.

Next time they are bitching about lack of taxis on Newstalk, you should ring in and tell them your thoughts on the Healy Rae's.

its all one way with Newstalk, bashing taxis.

What chance has a taxi driver in rural ireland ?    I would suggest that they make haste in finding alternative employment before the shit really hits the fan

There wouldn't be a shortage of taxi drivers if we didn't have rain.

There wouldn't be a shortage of taxi drivers if we didn't have so many drunks.

There wouldn't be a shortage of taxi drivers if we didn't have all pubs, clubs and restaurants closing at the same time.

Newstalk are mad to get taxi drivers on the phone though, I text them once about something taxi related and they rang me within seconds asking me to go on air, that is not me though so I declined.

The 2 hour squeeze on Friday and Saturday night is the same situation as there's been since Adam took a bite out of the apple,no radio host or journo can answer the question of what all these called for taxis are going to do for the other 164 hours in the week other than destroy what's left of the business.

I had a customer ask me when when we get Uber? because when I was in London and Liverpool we used Uber and it was great  :-\ this in a town of 4000 people. I told her I was sitting in a rank most of the night and will only be busy for 2 hours max, you wont be left stranded and will get a taxi eventually, if uber gets in what will the drivers make? 50 euro per night? who will be bothered with that?

Uber in the UK is a hackney service with licenced drivers.Everytime this shit comes up we have misinformation about Uber distracting from the fact that all the apps have the exact same goal.Bend drivers over and extract as much commission as possible for work that was already ours ten years ago.

I'm reading a few posts too about plate transfers. There will be an absolute flood of new drivers if plate transfer restrictions are lifted.Every single Indian male who can drive will be heading to Dublin. Many are already here.

Plate transfers is only going to make more new drivers.More drivers means less work and higher app fees. You'd think it was hopping all week the way yis go on.
