AFAIK, only certain Garda Carriage Offices actually ask for the Driving Licence history.  Dublin is one for sure because I got asked for it 2 or 3 yrs ago.

The problem is the NTA reminder letter.  The last line in the requirements says something like 'and any other misc documents as requested.'  So you don't find out until you submit your application whether you need the history printout or not.

I might add that during all this process which I started last January I got no notification of any type from the NTA about driving license history now being required or a change to the address of the Cork PSV garda office.

I have done my level best to stay within the rules as laid out by the NTA but still it's looking unlikely that I will get my Taxi license renewal sorted by 12th May.

I know you got messed around a bit, but it`s advisable to apply 6 to 8 weeks prior to expiry date. And make sure you get Garda to stamp the back of your soon to expire paper psv.

I got a phone call last Thursday morning at 8.45am to arrange an appointment fer 11am the same day.

I requested the above from the Guard that morning but he seemed reluctant to do so and I didn't persue it.
He stated that I would definately have the paper license before 12th May and as it turned out it arrived in the post the very next day last Friday.

Now whater FN will accept the paper only Garda license is another matter, last Thursday the Guard promised me that they would but I'm having my doubts that if'n I don't have the new NTA dash ID sent to FN by 12th May they will put me off, which is not a terrible big worry of mine.

Apologies to all, but I did not glean too much information on the renewal process last Thursday, I just brought everything with me and emailed them my TCC and NDLS driving history. What the Guard actually did or didn't require I dont know, but I think he did require the NDLS and TCC by email, I didn't ask but was just happy when he was satisfied and sent me on my way.

I will say that the whole process (in Cork) was very very different to what it was when I last renewed in 2019. The best bet is to just bring everything with you including NDLS driving history and TCC emailed to them after the appointment date has been scheduled and as Bob Schillin stated if you have PP's bring a letter from your insurer to say they are aware of the points.

The paper Garda licence IS your sPSV licence.  The yellow/purple thing you stick on your dashboard is just something pretty the NTA gives you.

I agree, but I think without the dash ID emailed to them FN will not continue to give out jobs to an expired dash ID.
(which is not a big concern of mine).

2019 to 2024 licence renewal differences in Cork;

In 2019 you presented yourself at the Cork PSV Garda station in the city center at any time (office hours).
In 2024 (without notification) an application had to made only by email to a new PSV Garda station 10km outside Cork city fer a PSV renewal appointment.

In 2019 all 3 photographs had to be signed on the back.
In 2024 that is no longer required.

In 2019 you did not need any TCC criteria as the Gardai could already see it on their file.
In 2024 your TCC must be emailed (or printed) as seemingly the Gardai cannot see your TCC.

In 2019 you did not fill out the PSV18 renewal form, the Guard at the station asked you the questions in person and filled them out electronically fer you.
In 2024 you are given the PSV18 form to fill out yourself while supervised in the Garda station.

In 2019 NDLS driving history was never mentioned, nor was the requirement fer your insurer to know of your PP history.
In 2024 seemingly both are compulsory in certain counties either in print or by email.

I just brought (or emailed) everything with me to the renewal appointment, better to just get it all done in One sitting because the rules change and unfortunately they do not notify us of the changes.
