I was asked to provide my driving record by the carriage office. The chap in the office says this has been in place for 3/4 years which would explain why I didn't have to do it the last time.

I've emailed NDLS and they've said they'll send it within ten days. The carriage office also gave me an email address that I can forward it to.

I did my renewal last year, the lovely Elaine in Drogheda Carriage Office didn't ask for any NDLS driving history or passport...had the Garda paper licence in a couple of weeks, can't remember if the NTA's dash ID arrived in a timely manner!!

I didn't know one could renew a Dublin SPSV DL in Drogheda. Although I didn't know there was a CO in Drogheda. Shame there's no SPSV VL inspection/renewal facility there since they stopped using the Boyne Valley Hotel.

Every day's a school day, I guess.

Keep your eye on that NDLS crowd, they messed me about big time saying that they never recieved my email request even though I had an auto response email Twice to say I had applied ??

I dunno if it makes a difference but the first 3 times I unsuccessfully applied I had put in my PPS number on the email form and on the 4th successful attempt I put in my driving license number.

Their 10 days is 10 working days which does not include weekends or the upcoming bank holiday Monday, so it will actually be 15 days in your case MFH.

I thought that I would have to ring the NTA portal thingy to get my nua license on their driver check system, but I just checked it and I'm already entered there as up to 2029.  One less job to do .....

Still no sign of the NTA dash ID but I have till the 12th May to recieve it or I'll have to be a legal street hoe fer a while .....

The NTA dash ID can take months to turn up so that's where your real Garda paper licence comes into play.  Stick that in your glovebox to show any NTA inspectors that might get nosey!

We spoke of it before RC....infact I mentioned the lovely Elaine who works there, another girl also, very helpful altogether,I did renew it in Santry one time and the Garda there told me that I could renew in Drogheda...cos I lived there regardless of my Dublin only area licence.

Thanks, Hal. I don't remember that at all. My memory isn't what it used to be!

The App's seemingly do not accept Garda paper license only even though the Guard that processed my application said that they did ??

Does the Garda have a sideline providing technical support for one or more dispatch firm(s) or was he just telling you what he figured you wanted to hear to get rid of you?

My personal Taxi license expired at 12 Midnight last night (Sunday), still no dash I.D. from NTA, but I do have an email from them to say that I am legal to work as long as I carry my recently issued Garda paper license.

Because of no dash ID Bolt blocked me on Sat night at midnight and FN also but after midnight on Sunday night ??
Uber I don't bother much with.

So thanks to the 3 Gov bodies we have to deal with to renew a license (mainly NDLS) I am now a street hoe only.

Hopefully I get my dash ID by next Wed or Fri when their 10 to 12 working days are up ??

Just to remind folks I started my personal Taxi renewal process at the end of January this year !!  ::fds

It's been like that for years though.  For all their sins, the Gardai can knock out a legal document (licence) in a few weeks but it takes the NTA months to issue a bit of plastic.  In fairness, the NTA know they're incompetent and do warn you about their tardiness in their renewal notices.

It is a shame that the apps don't recognise the Garda legal licence.  You'd think that having x% of drivers regularly 'disappearing' off their apps would prompt them to accept the Garda licence for their apps?

Still, I suppose it's a warning to those who've become too reliant on a third party (the apps) to make their living...

Hopefully I will actually get my NTA dash ID by this Wed or Fri when their 10-12 working days are up, but I'm not too pushed about it, the 'Boss' plays Cork next Thursday and I can do ok without any app on the weekend nights.
