Security assaulted, vehicles damaged at Clonmel site marked for refugees

Gardaí are investigating after security workers were assaulted and a number of vehicles were damaged by fire overnight at a site in Clonmel earmarked for modular homes for refugees.

The incident happened at Heywood Road, on the edge of the town, at about 11.40pm when security personnel contracted to work on the site were assaulted by a number of individuals, according to gardaí.

One of the workers was hospitalised while a number of vehicles were damaged.

Gardaí have conducted a technical examination of the scene and appealed for any witnesses to the incident, including anyone with CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage to get in touch with them.

No arrests have yet been made.

Oh, I know.  But I was struck by the irony of Irish people using violence to stop potentially violent refuges coming into their neighbourhood.

And the problem with violence is that it is a slippery slope.  If you're part of the mob that uses it, eventually the mob will probably use it against you (c.f. various socialist parties like the Workers party or the various IRA's 'up North').

I came from the most intelligent generation that ever existed but our kids fucked it up for themselves .Now they complain they cannot afford a gaff or medical insurance or a pension .Imagine a World where a degree in History or Art History Lesbian Studies was going to help you buy any of the essentials for life .KIDS THAT HAD THE INTELLIGENCE EDUCATED OUT OF THEM .I would think most SPAR Shops are now managed by College educated people with aI deciding on Just in Time Deliveries tills that tell you how much change to give .So the manager now does the job the saturday casual staff use to do pack shelves and sweep the floors .

You see the picture the job remains the same its just harder to get it because we educated the idiots .


I would bet a fair bit of coin that about 90% of candidates in the local election have a degree .A lot of this anti everything is born out of fustration people who went to college to take a degree that is of no use to them .

I doubt it's Sinn Fein making threats (this time) and I doubt they actually know what they believe in.  They want to win elections so they've tilted right hoping to pick up voters angry about immigration.  As well as their usual target of people angry about... whatever you want.  They'll be angry, annoyed and upset with you as long as you vote for them.

In a way, I'd be interested in seeing SF, PbP and all the fringe lefties win power.  They've been shouting at the FF/FG/Lab for years in the Dail and it would be 'fun' to see what they would do if they actually got into power!

I'm not stupid though,  I would 'get a gun' if they did win power!

Shinners never had real support it was a Dumping site for wasters and disillusioned .The Greens the PDs Labour .Social Dems all had a visit its going to be the Right This time round the Left were exposed as Spoofers .BUT like I said any you watch .THE DUBLIN Councils are in real debt and they need the City Manager to take over by encouraging the nutters into power the State can Guarentee this outcome .I doubt DCC or Fingal or SDCC or DLRTD will pass their estimates this year and all four will be run by the County Managers .This will result in increased Household Charges .Cuts to Funding of parks and Libraries and Swimming pools and possible Congestion Charges or Massive increases in on Street Parking Fees and the dreaded Water Charges will once again raise their heads .
