Is thers a growing trend in America of treating uber drivers as employees ?

Yes, and esp in Europe.  At first, Govts swallowed the line that this was the new frontier, new tech, and it was gonna transform the world!  Then they realised they weren't paying any tax (the companies or the 'partner-drivers) and that's a no-no for Govts.  In Europe, they cared a little bit about worker's rights & all that as well.

Imagine getting 32 euros and hour guaranteed plus holiday pay 52 weeks a year" How much have you left after supply and maintain?

Depends on the driver and their situation Bob but there are day drivers in Dublin not always hitting 30 and hour. Some would be happy to get 20 some days.I'll include myself in that.

I know some night drivers who struggle to break 35 during the week.

Also it must be remembered that the vehicles are a lot cheaper to run in the US too.No taxi plates or suitability messing just a vehicle lease.

The flip side of having to guarantee hourly wages is they can't overload the app with drivers. It could eventually lead to limited hours when it's quiet.

I'm open to correction by Belker but I think that's already happening in New York.  Though it's not clear if the apps are playing politics (scrap the min. wage) or just being c*nts...

I think in some cities in the US where minimum wage rules apply for gig workers on Uber eats the drivers have to schedule thier shifts so that they're not all on the road at the same time.

I suppose the hole point for most of us is we drive a taxi cause we don't want to be " employees " ....
They'd ( apps ) wud start tellin ya to work Friday/ Saturday
Nite or ther not payin ya atall ....probly put ya on a roster an if yur a licky lacky they'd give ya more favouritism ....
The more I tink about it the more it gives me the heebeegeebees....
Some days I only get 20 quid an fall asleep an go home ....but thats why I luv this job / hobby .....I'm a free man ...
Once they have to pay yu a minimum....yur going to be ther slave one way or another....
Naa ....they can shuve it rite up ther hooters  O:-)

How many taxis does the Taxis for Ireland coalition own? I'm only guessing here but I'd think it's near f**king ZERO.

The proprietor of NPHTA - the original author of the coalition's policy documents - owns or controls about 15 plates and represents the majority of taxi drivers, I think.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
