Insurance firms find out for themselves these days but I don't see any relevance in that to Gardai issuing licences to drivers who have proved themselves to be incompetent. At the very least such drivers should be required to sit and pass a driving test if they have 3 or less points and be excluded for any period within which they hold more than 3 points.

Bit harsh rats.  Did you ever in all of your life have penalty points? Have you ever, in the dead of the night, went through an amber light when no one was around? Have you ever drove for a bit with your high beams on without realising and blinded the fcuk out of everyone?

If that was to be implemented then there would be a very serious lack of taxis + a much more lenghty dole que.

2022 figures...  numbers in the range of 11-19%.  15% in Cork & 14% in Dublin.
