Meter Programming Cost?
« on: November 21, 2024, 04:33:36 pm »
Might be useful to men buying new meters to have an idea what each brand / installer charges for fare updates.

I'll get the ball rolling...

Mechanic 24HR - Hale Microtax 5 - €150
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

I’m hearing thru the wireless that certain microtax meters aren’t suitable for the update?

Seemingly microtax meters with the numbers MCT 05on the back are obsolete and can trade them against a new mirror meter and printer for €400.

However meters with MCT 05+ can be used until December 2025

Having got my meter programmed on Wednesday and made an appointment for sealing I got this by SMS from Mechanic 24 this morning:

Hi Stephen,

We have noticed that you have recently had your Hale MCT-05 taxi meter updated with the new national Taxi Tariff that is due to become effective from December 1st.

Your specific Model of Taxi meter maybe too old to take the new Tariff as the internal calendar on some of the earliest model Hale MCT-05 will expire on December 31st this year.

IF your meter is the specific older model then, YOU MUST REPLACE YOUR TAXI METER!

The oldest version of MCT-05 Taxi meter will not operate correctly After December.

Do Not get your current Hale taxi meter resealed until you have ascertained exactly which model you have as the older model is effectively redundant.

For any existing customer with a redundant Hale MCT-05, We will offer you a New replacement Mirror Taxi meter and printer for €400 including installation and 2 Years warranty.

Alternatively we will refund your €150 if already paid.

Please contact us at your earliest convenience if this affects you.

The information below will help you confirm which model of Taximeter you have:

The simplest way to identify a MCT-05+ is to have a look at the taximeter's e1-certification mark, which clearly shows "MCT-05+" (see attached pic). This label was usually placed on the back of the taximeter. (The MCT-05+ will operate normally until 31st December 2025)

Another easy way to find out the model version is to check the program/firmware version - on MCT-05 it will be "EU10" or "EU11", ( The MCT-05 with this software is now effectively redundant).

The program version for MCT-05+ is "MEUD3".
Customers can do this themselves by following the steps below (see as well attached scheme):
Press keys 2+3 in For Hire mode --> driver number is displayed -> press key 3 -> test mode is displayed -> press key 4 -> program version is displayed

In MCT-05 (discontinued for many years, no MID approval!) the automatic calendar and correspondingly the tariff will work until December 31st, 2024.
In MCT-05+ and SPT-01 (both taximeter models have been discontinued for quite some years and do not have MID approval!) the automatic calendar and correspondingly the tariff will work until December 31st, 2025.
SPT-02: the automatic calendar works until end of 2045, provided firmware version  G10 PEUD76 is programmed. Attention: SPT-02 is not manufactured anymore. Devices already sold/installed will be supported with repairs and tariff updates until further notice.
MCT-06: the automatic calendar works until end of 2045, provided firmware version G10 MEUD77 2022.09.19 is programmed. This taximeter model is still being produced for the time being.

Definitely part of a cartel.

I remember Gerry McGrath buying a meter from abroad ( Austria), and yer man looked shellshocked when he wanted installed. flabbergasted that he could buy a HALE cheaper the PSV could.

ATA with Quality Motors: €150. There's a pattern emerging.

€150.00 @ Mechanic24 - I'm beginning to see a coincidence and evidence of the CARTEL operating.
