First Aid Kit
« on: November 21, 2024, 07:07:56 pm »
Picked one up today in NCTS, Drogheda €15. I assume all NCTS centres stock them.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Just dont make the mistake I did, I got one in Lil for 3 euro but it "had not enough bandages" according to the inspector who let me away with it but told me to buy the bigger kit.

I thought €15 was reasonable or, at least, insignificant in the context of the amount I'm spending on the taxi between meter/programming/sealing, NCTS, LRA, etc... It was convenient anyway, I guess.

I didn't know Lidl sold them. Hopefully I'll remember that when the new one expires in 2029 if I'm still around and working the cab, however unlikely that may be!

The likelihood of me remembering is what I was considering most unlikely!

I still have my very old first aid kit in the boot with I'm guessing everything bar the scissores out of date, I keep it just in case anybody (even family) actually ever needs it, and they would be welcome to it.

Lower down in the boot is the actual Suitabilty First aid kit gifted to me by our own Hal a few years back, he bought it fer me in a sealed cellophane wrapper from Mechanic 24 in Dooblin, and I further wrapped it within a strong plastic bag to preserve it, and it lives in the bottom of the boot and see's daylight once a year at suitability. As it's cellophane wrapped and sealed, no inspectoer has ever looked twice at it.

I had a new one before Ken, still wrapped in the plastic and yer man at the test got annoyed that he had to rip it open to check. I'd say he'd have failed me if he could. The cnut.

Ya never know what there gonna check. I once had an inspector take a good 5 minutes looking over/under and every side of my meter once before, that was the only time, no inspector before or since gave it a second glance.
