10pm RTE exit poll

SF and FG almost level on 21.1% and 21%, with FF just behind on 19.5%

Sinn Féin and Fine Gael are almost level on 21.1% and 21%, with Fianna Fáil on 19.5%, according to the RTÉ, Irish Times, TG4, Trinity College Dublin Exit Poll was carried out by Ipsos B&A. The margin of error is 1.4%.

A new exit poll suggests that Fine Gael and Sinn Féin are virtually tied when it comes to first preference votes with Fianna Fáil slightly further back, making the result of General Election 2024 too close to call.

It indicates Green Party first preference support stands at 4%; Labour at 5%; the Social Democrats at 5.8%; People Before Profit-Solidarity at 3.1%; and Independents at 12.7%, Independent Ireland 2.2% with others on 1.9%.

"Re-arranging the deckchairs on the Titanic" springs to mind  ::fds  Can't imagine FF or FG is ruthless enough to ditch the other for SF coalition so only question is who'll be the sacrificial lamb making up the numbers.

RTÉ's Paul Cunningham says the Exit Poll suggests that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, if they were to form a coalition, would need two parties to go into government with them.

He added that the Exit Poll also suggests that there is no route to a left government without Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael.

Second Election Next year FF/FG /Ladour/Soc Dems plus a few Indies or Greens .Mick Healy Wray and Danno for Minister for Mayhem .Wont Last .Very low turnout when there was no option but to return either FF or FG as part of any new coalition .Could somebody Play their Joker .FF or FG just say if the Shinners get the most seats You go ahead and sort it out with FF and FG both playing for their identity by refusing to go back into power togeather again .

I see UK Parliament have voted in Favour of euthanasia .Irish Bill Introduced by Gino Kenny going through the Dail .So will we be like the 1960s with Irish people going to Britain for Abortions now thinking of Going to Britain for End of Life Care .The Only Issue that I considered when I voted .Did any other party have any issue that they championed .Housing .Hospitals Immigration seemed to be all the rest were pushing .Any wonder the turnout was so low .

There isn't really that much difference between them all which is probably a good thing. No wonder so many people want to live here from other parts of the world.

Look at how stable things are .Would you want SF in Government ?A lot of people who vote Independent know the people they vote for will have no impact ,they just want to reduce the power of the Big two .

Yeah!…but SF should have got rid of Mary Lou with her swinging door and reverse policies.Doherty should have got the reins and Mary could be sniped at.Ger Badams would not let her take the fall? :))

Passed first reading. Still has to go to committee and pass amended reading and pass House of Lords to become law.

Who will be in next government FF/Fg with a few indies ? more good jobs for the boys and a few roads for the indies .Or go with the Soc Dems give them a minister and a junior but wipe them out for next time .IF Mick has his choice I think go with Labour or Soc Dems make sure there is no united left next election .

Shocking Donnely gone, i thought he held the Angola minefield steady over the four years, including the covid crisis. Couldn’t solve the waiting list much

Dublin central always held a labour seat with Costello for many years, so sherlock should keep it for a while
