I abandoned the Scoda when the fumes started coming through the aircon .Turbo was on the way out always had emissions problems .But I would of been doing about 90% of my driving under 80km per hour and ranking up .Diesels need some motorway driving .

Belker it would have been cheaper to do more oil changes with the high grade oil and not idle so much , everything is linked once one thing fails like pushing oil changes to the max it effects the turbo then the egr then the DPf, I've never had any dpf problems because I changed the oil every 10k and the DPf gets cleaned out every 250,000km, and I started using circle k miles extra diesel 3c of every litre.
Believe me C5, I tried everything under the sun to keep that Fookin DPF light off and nothing ever worked, with every mechanic telling me that as a Taxi I do be doing too many short around town jobs, which is incorrect, I'm a night driver almost totally, I work when there is almost zero traffic and do lots of motorway runs out of town.

I have a 2am run to Shannon from Cork next Friday morning so I'll throw a bottle of VB26 Smog Doctor in to half a tank of Diesel before leaving.

Can those codes not be cleared with an OBD reader just to keep it moving?

Clear the codes so you can drive the car.Keep clearing the codes until it stops being useful as a taxi.Worse that can happen is yo might have to get rid of the car.

I don't know the specifics of your problems but a light coming on isnt always a reason to visit the mechanic straight away. They're called the money lights for a reason.Leave the OBD permanently plugged in and clear them on the go.

That's what I would do.

The car drives fine with or without the DPF light on. I find that driving a car with a warning light on is not a good idea.

Just leave it alone Belker.Twenty years ago cars didn't have all these sensors but yet they drove and do the same work as they do now.Dont be handing your money over because you've got a sensitive German engined car.

It's been explained to you before but those BMW engines in the Toyotas were not built to drive in the city all the time. You are trying to fix something that will keep breaking until it goes to the scrap yard.

The fact that you were on here talking about meter reseals before most of us even had our meters reprogrammed tells me you are worried over stuff that doesn't matter. You need to spend your money on a different car IMO.Keep clearing the codes if they bother you. Most drivers wouldn't give a bollox about the codes and be on the next car already.

Devils Advocate:  I haven't been keeping up with this story but... Don't you only need the DPF for the NCT?  After all these years taxiing, you must have a friendly mechanic who could take it out, blank off the error codes, and then re-install it just before the NCT.  Rinse and repeat?  If that's not acceptable, bit the bullet and get an EV.  There's potentially €20k FREE cash there for the taking and you only have to keep the EV for 3 years.

Put your business hat on - your car is your money maker!
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

I think you dont even have to remove the dpf, they can just blank it off, clear the codes permanently and still pass nct.

Buy a pruis
No emissions test
Cheap to run
Economical
Write it off ur tax bill

Simple
When RC's engine block is on the coffee table he can't go to work. Brilliant really. 8)

Neither my MKII nor MKIII Octys were ever off the road for maintenance, bar a couple of crash repairs with the downtime paid by TPs insurance.

Getting back to matters Prius... how many sub €25 hours did you have to work to pay for the replacement hybrid battery in the heap that barely lasted another fortnight?
I remember a cylinder head on the coffee table; it was very ornamental and avant-garde then.

Seven months on the hybrid battery. Stuart did well out of me.

Seven months work just to pay for a battery for a piece of scrap metal does little to enforce the concept of cheap maintenance.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
