No Stickers

Brought my car up above to Dublin for it's annual LRA today. They've run out of stickers so despite the car being in perfect condition I have to make another trip to have the stickers applied after they buy some and before my current licence expires.

Apparently it's a nationwide problem. Is there any end to Applus+++eses incompetence?

Zero consequences for Applus+++ but if one of our biros runs out of ink we face fines of up to €3,000 and 12 months imprisonment.

WOW !  As incompetence goes that is pretty high up on the list !   

They should be calling to your home to put the stickers on and Not you calling to them.

As was the case with me when Lehanes Toyota very slightly dented my rear bumper in their garage,

It was just the tinyist dent, only fer the dealer pointing it out and asking was it there before I would never have noticed it.

A lady from an Applus+++ call centre in Galway rang me this morning to let me know they've bought some stickers and to make an appointment to have a set installed. I said I'd ring back for the appointment when I have time to look up when my meter sealing appointment is with a view to accommodating both operations during one visit. I also complained that the inspector initially advised that no appointment would be necessary to accommodate the sticker installation to which she intimated that the numbers have got somewhat out of hand but did suggest that it may be possible without an appointment i.e. that it could be worth dropping in if I was passing by. When I asked about compensation she advised me to contact a different department.

Rang to book sticker installation today. Unfortunately I don't know my CCSN so it wasn't possible. I asked the bloke I spoke with to ask the girl who rang me last to ring back and he said he'd try but he's also going to email my CCSN.

Anywaysanall, I haven't got an email yet (c. 3 hours on) so if I don't get one or a call back I guess I'll just drop in on 22nd when I'll be there for the meter seal. The current stickers are good 'till the 23rd and, to be honest, nobody ever looks at them so if they can't do it when I'm there I'll probably manage without them till December. I should probably maintain a record of all the efforts I've made to get them just in case I end up before a judge, however unlikely that may be.

Are you now saying that you'll soon be a rogue taxi man driving around without the legally required,  industry standard identification that's fixed to your car so it can be inspected at check points or spot checks by the enforcers? Tsst tsst.

I don't know yet. The email or call back may yet arrive and even failing that they may be able to accommodate me when I'm there for the meter seal.

It wouldn't be the first time anyway. I operated my MKII Octy for months with no sticker on the back window and nobody noticed or bothered to tell me it was missing. Fortunately the LRA inspector opted to turn a blind eye at its next inspection.
