I had the most ghastly month from a financial perspective. I worked 33.5 hours taking in €1281 with takings per hour significantly below the year's average despite the fare increase.... and I spent most of the month handing out money like it was going out of fashion which, to be fair, is the norm for December as far as personal / socialising expenditure excesses are concerned but I was also faced with €550 for a new meter, €90 to schedule sealing, €75 for a brand new tyre (bubbled on inside wall), €127 for a brand new battery, €55 for NCTS, €15 for a first aid kit, €150 for LRA - on successful completion of which the inspector advised I'd have to take another trip up to Dublin for the stickers as they were out of stock and said he'd ring when they came in, no word as yet.... pff, the list is endless...
Folk pay taxi firms like Free Now extortionate surge fees and see taximen driving €40k cars so they think we're making a fortune. They don't realise you'd need to work like a first generation immigrant to show any kind of profit.
