Zone 18 cones
« on: January 12, 2025, 03:27:49 pm »
Does anyone know what the DAA are trying to achieve by putting cones all over zone 18.This morning there was two security blokes out there minding the cones.By the time I got out of the Zone 18 car park with my passengers there was a tenner on the meter before any extras. The fare ran up to nearly €43 just to Ormond quay before commsions.Seems like they tried to improve things and ended up making it worse.

I posed that question before Chrimbo, there's still cunts(taxis) parking up in it for longer than €1.50 will get ye.....I thought that €1.50 only got ye 15mins...I only wanna drive in and out of that kip....and another thing I asked....some of these taxi cunts are paying with their phones and that's what's causing the delays getting out of it.....just pull a ticket and tap with you card on way out...couldn't be simpler!!

Some lads go in to park near tunnel.I see a few getting out and going to find their own job.

Maybe the DAA thought it would keep out lads who have no bookings by reducing the capacity of the car park but it's only made it worse.

I don't use Zone 18 but I'm reliably informed certain drivers arrive in the zone without a booking and simply tout any potential passenger - pre-booked or not - to steal work. They are picking and choosing what work they'll do as the NTA has washed their hands of the zone saying it's a DAA matter.

So I'd say fill your boots and park at the first opening of the tunnel approaching the zone and tout among the sub-continental Asians.
You don't even have to show you have a pre-book when entering the zone because DAA knows they'll get paid the €1.50 parking fee every time.

My Tuppence-worth !

As a non-Doob Taxi driver I seldom see Dooblin airport, but I had a family pick-up there at about 5am on the last August bank holiday Monday morning where I parked up in zone 18, during the 15 minutes that I was in there giving the cab a birra of a clean 2 separate people approached me asking if I was available.
