Not me. I haven't really taken it seriously since qualifying, Octy. I only ever have one or two clients on the go at any given time. Ifn I'm honest I prefer driving the cab 'cos you're not tied to arrangements often made a week or two in advance and it's a neck down job. On the other hand, if you value job satisfaction you won't get that driving a cab but will when a student passes their test and/or sends you nice thank you cards/messages. For the moment I'll keep my options open, I guess.

It's not particularly difficult to get an ADI licence. The theory test is a piece of piss and I reckon the periodic check tests would be pretty hard to fail - although they cost €250 every two years and you have to do the hour long test which is probably going to cost you a morning or afternoon's wages as well. The hardest bit is probably the ADI driving test but passing the same will vastly improve your own driving if nothing else! The initial instruction ability test does require a bit of planning but isn't overly complex.

If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Passed my stage one over 2 years ago, did all the category’s, car, rigid, bus, artic.

Attempted to learn ‘er indoors to pilot a heep since, it didn’t go well. Not the best student teacher relationship when the student calls the teacher a prick. I might circle back to it on a later date.

It took Mrs. Catcher over 20 years to pass the test... and she only done it then 'cos she got a summons for driving unaccompanied during COVID '19 an all. Women being women she went to the local Garda station to give out about being summoned. Long story short the local Guard apologized and said the Garda on the checkpoint was training some new recruits so had to do everything by the book. He gave her his name to give to a named solicitor at the courthouse. When she met the solicitor it was established that she earned too much to strictly qualify for legal aid but because I hadn't worked since COVID '19 an all began the solicitor would ask the judge and, if refused, wouldn't charge a fee. Anywaysanall, Mrs Catcher got off Scott free after proudly showing the judge her pretty pink licence and the State paid the solicitor. It's a great little country!

Your underestimating yourself there Stephen, I know I myself, and most of this forum were very proud of you when you passed all those ADI tests.

Fer me as your biggest 'Back Chair' and 'Looker-on' supporter in your quest, was that you APPLIED yourself to the task at hand.
