Gardai in Co Donegal have closed a number of roads following a serious overnight collision.

It is understood that two pedestrians have been injured following the incident at Lower Main Street in Letterkenny. The single vehicle incident involved a local taxi.

The vehicle also collided with a local house causing some small damage. The exact details of the collision are not yet known.

Gardai have sealed off the area as a forensics team are expected to arrive shortly. A number of approach roads have also been sealed off.

Gardai have been contacted for an official comment on the incident. The scene of the crash is on the route of today's planned St Patrick's Day parade in the town.

A garda spokesman said: "GardaĆ are investigating a road traffic collision involving a car and two pedestrians, that occurred at Lower Main Street, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, this morning, Monday 17th March 2025.

"The collision, in which the pedestrians were struck by a car, occurred at approximately 3am. The two male pedestrians were conveyed to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

"The driver of the car, a male aged in his late teens, was arrested at the scene, and remains in Garda custody. The scene is currently preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
